I have a very "detached" personality. I view everything from a third person perpective, even things that effect me personally, directly and very deeply. Even when I argue, I dont yell. Its just my nature not to attach strong emotional content with anything I do.

Spock, is that you?
Sorry, I just HAD to say that. My defense mechanism is my strange (= cynical, sarcastic and with a more than a little mean streak) sense of humor. It's the only way I can hold on to what little shreds of sanity I have left...

I think there is a right and wrong place to shut down the emotions.
When someone like Primarch is dealing with ill people in a hospital setting, I could see the need to keep some distance to what you are seeing. Keep the panic down, like an Emergency Room Doctor.
When I play a game, I think it is best not to internalize or personalize the game. Now, does that mean an Iraq game would not have an odd effect on me right now, of course it would.

Hi!
Actually, you might be the healthist of all of us!
Therapeutic release of stress is a lot better than "bottling up".
So long as you dont kill anyone when you blow up, you'll be fine..... ? ?
Primarch | I have a friend who has a "yelling pillow". Every once in a while he just goes and yells into the pillow. He believes it keeps his mind and body clear of too much stress and anger.
I figure, what ever works.

Yes, I've patched up and Medevac'd guys with holes in them and missing parts, etc. ?My job as a Infantry Officer was ... well you all know. ?Parachuted out of aircraft, slide down ropes out of hovering choppers, bounced around in rubber boats, landing craft and APCs, etc. ... and now I get upset over things that would have bothered me little if any, in those days. ?My more resent upset is completely out of character for that same guy that I just described. ? Face it "P", we're just getting old ...

I don't know if I'm any wiser ... just more bitter ... And until about 6-8 months ago ... I refused to get old too ... but reality said otherwise ...

True. We're older, have more money but less time to game. In our youths its was the opposite.
The cosmic forces must get a real laugh out of that....
