the salamender was originaly planned to be used as a command vehicule in the IG arty company. It was stripped off because the mini was late for the realease. Now here it come... as simple as that.
In the same way, they have a Capitol Imperialis in Progress. Will you all complain when it'll get out ? We simply receive IG, Ork and Marines army for now, because those are the released army. Next will follow the Eldars, Siege Masters and Feral orks, (Or Black templars ?) so we get to see the IG siegeMatser stuff  - which are mainly new mini, the Salamender is but an exception those last deays - and some Feral ork stuff... i guess they keep the Eldar new toys for later...

This simply is the planned release. Dont tell me GW always forget about Chaos when we had a worldwide campaign last yuear and another this year, all with Chaos receiving most background added to GW universes; i think we can be confident that the Chaos armies will be very good.

If we can judge by the "Playtest army work schedule", Chaos will be next, both Space marines and lost and damned. Yes, the Schedule is planning for a long time, but even GW core game get about 3 codex/armybooks for 2 years, not much more; we Just can't consider anything FW realeased as real model. The FW distribution mode can't allow that. We get lists and rules for almost everything existing for the game, and i think those lists are quite better than the quick 3 pages list for any armies in the 40K book for example.
The eldar army list is playable for a long time - it allready had good blance last summer, even if the list is not totally finished even now.

Chaos is getting more and more focus from player, and updated lists are on the road.

I sometime wonder if you'll ever stop complaining. A game you seem to like quite much is re-released in a quite good edition (i think we can all say that, i'd personnaly even say those are the best rules - nostalgia apart), with very nice looking minis - for most, also depend on your taste -,  and quite a good success -surprising GW themselves - which seem to indicate the game will get good and durable support (just like Warmaster, Inquisitor, BFG, and other SG game receive continuous support as well), and maybe more considering the success. Don't you think it may be time to cheer up a little, and get to something else than constantly cursing this or that mini, this or that schedule decision, Game designer, Mini sculptor, etc ? I'm certainly for criticism, but sometimes it does seem a bit systematic and not quite constructive. You even complain about getting too much minis...

we got a good game, good minis, and some sign the game is selling well - hell, we even got an EPIC article in French WD to get along the european release of the game, something that was said to never ever happen... So maybe we can get to smile sometime :) ?

I'm not complaining about E:A -It's a great game :)  I am just wondering why we see pre-production miniatures which there are no official army lists for yet. At the same time there are armies with almost finished lists which gets no miniatures at all. It is not meant as a complaint, I just find it a bit strange.

Regarding the Salamander: Yes it was in the Steel Legion list but dropped due to production limitations but why show pics of it now? Unless it's for the Cadia release which I believe will be released along with Chaos -but that is still quite far in the future.

Cheers! :)

Well, As I have said, I've been complaining/playing Epic since '90 and I don't plan on playing E:A "out of the box".  I didn't play SM1 out of the box, I added activation back then.  14 Years later G/W figured it out.  I'll complain about the models, I'll complain about the rules, and I'll complain about whatever moves me at the moment.  And in the same breath, buy all the new stuff from the M.O. Trolls with my Visa.  I have 9 Epic Armies - SM, IG, Traitor SM, Orks, Eldar (including Exodites), Chaos (including Cultists), 'Nids, the (defunct) Squats and F/W Tau & Kroot.   So I may complain, but my support comes in a form that really counts - $$$.  "Show me the Money !"

Just Checked the S/G site ... Epic Ork Squig Catapult ... neat !  But I'm going to "complain" again ... I hope all these models we have seen on bases, are separate from the model.  I like both the models and the bases, but it is easier to paint and looks better, IMO (... I'm allowed to have an opinion, regardless), to have them separate.  But That's just my opinion ...

After 15 years and 100's of epic games, I think I've earned the right to whine and complain.... :;):  :p

I think when you get to 1 Million points, we can call you "Epic God"

Perhaps we should put that instead of Master Of The Fleet for you...

Cheers

Chris

PS, we are waiting for an invantry update from you Primarch! (Yes, we know you have lots of models and it takes time...)

Yes, again Primarch is correct ... after hundreds of Epic games, countless hours of painting, templating, collecting 9 Epic Armies, not to mention thousands of dollars spent, I think I can have an alternate opinion than some. ?If you agreed with me, you wouldn't say I was complaining, it's just an opinion. ?And I do take exception with the statement, that F/W Epic are not real models ? ? This is "Spin" that verges on Orwellian New-Speak !? ?The F/W Tau & Kroot are on rules V.3, and I've got a large force on my work bench. ?Sure looks like a real army of real models, to me ?! ? Not to mention that I've got one pack or more of every F/W Epic model made in my armies. ?So to call them not real models is questionable, at best ?  That's not complaining ... it's an opinion ... IMO !

Hi!

Chris I have slated some time to update my inventory come June, with pictures and everything so I haven't forgotten.

I'm just as anxious as everyone else to see what they look like all together on the tabletop!  :D

I'll stop whining when:

1. Epic Becomes a GW core game
2. Fully supported in WD at least every other month
3. A release schedule where all models and armies as well as rules have been released within one year of the core rules release.

Give me those three and I'll become a GW "fanboy" once more.... :;):

Primarch, given number 3 in your list you can add a 4th one: when you get playboy models in GW stores that will do whatever you ask them to do to please you".

The likelyness of tyhat happening is similar :D  :;):

And L4, that is NOT complaining. it is asking questions. So stop complaining about complaining. LMAO :D

In any case I am not a fan of GW, but neither I am a detractor. To me they are a company that make acceptable games in order to sell miniatures. The miniatires are good enough for my taste, even if I have a lot of minis of other companies (like most people hre, I think). As long as they provide me with some of the minis I need to play with my friends I am happy. In general I am not in a rush either to get all the minis NOW so I suppose I am more content than most people in that point :) I am weird, I know.

Health and sixes,

Xavi

Well, i guess that was some "no-flame forum" thread example.

I typed a post to answer, but i realise this would only anger some of you, something i am certainly not aiming for, and i suspect it wouldn't have changed anything else.

So instead of reading me, just have a good day/evening/night/whatever suit at the moment.

That was very polite. :) (obviously not an Ork!)

I think the Tau issue needs to be cleared up now (ie: GW are going to release a range of Tau at a later date, therefore they regard the FW Tau as unofficial and simply a stand-in range), because in however many years when they're released by GW; if there are other armies still waiting to be made, they (and we) want to avoid endless posts of people complaining (er, I mean offering their opinion :p ) about GW re-releasing miniatures and not being able to get their precious Necron/Demiurg/whatever.

But hopefully by then the FOTM people would've gone and everyone left will realise the time it takes for these things to be released isn't going to change anytime soon.

And with regards to the SG IG (?) I am guessing that there will be an IG character pack released in the near future containing a few stands of these slightly altered IG that have been on the SG site, and hopefully one for SM and Orks too. :)

Actually I think your suggestion is a lot more likely to happen than my three....  :L

Xavi, your approach is a good one. While its entertaining for me to "throw rocks" at GW, its more out of habit than any ill-will towards them. From a corporate point of view I approve of their way of doing things becuase it generates profit. They could do better, but their current results are pretty good.

In reality its been years since I have ceased to care about GW and how they do things. I do "my own thing" and as long as they see fit to to make more models at whatever rate that suits them its all good to me.
