In your opinion of all things EPIC, how are the landing pads sizewise?

Yep, I'm delighted with them, I was looking for something to house my Thunderbricks (mostly as a battlefield objective). As you can see, mission acomplished! I've only just acquired one of the more modern Thunderhawk gunships so once I get that painted I'll post a pic of it on your landing pads to give others more of an idea of scale.

Please note that my landing pads come with disco lighting, and are suitable for all intergalactic celebrations (rental charge applies). :D

Oh gawd you have the OG thunderbrick. Something so ugly even GW could love it. Great disco landing pad. I hope to see some reinforcements from the colony's embarking from there shortly, mate.

They're only getting used on the Landing Pad, not in gameplay. I thought it makes it a nice little battlefield objective.

Thanks for the nice comments chaps!

Now for today's update, outpost walls now fully painted!

PS I now know my table needs dusted!

A little project to hopefully enhance AB's splendid walls. I apologise in advance for the horrific standard of photography, the batteries on my camera were dying and I had to scrounge batteries from remote controls just to be able to take those seen here. It's still a work in progress, will let the clay set and paint it up tomorrow.

Other than about the standard of photography, C&Cs are welcomed.

Some lovely stuff here.

Can I just make one small (hopefully constructive) comment about the trenches ? I very much like the build but think that the finish might benefit from :

- leaving the inside as a muddy surface (no grass). Perhaps a bit narrower ? Als, include stretches of standing water.

- covering the smooth exterior surface with a textured finish (usual thing - PVA / play sand / paint) and then add grassed areas.

Just a thought. They certainly work well as they are and have provided some inspiration for me to have a go.

Cheers,

Phil

Cheers Phil! Thanks for the suggestions, it's always great to get feedback! Thought I'd respond to each of your suggestions;

I had envisaged my defences as being for a planet which hadn't seen much conflict and the trenches aren't that muddy because they haven't really been used. With hindsight, maybe I should muck them up more! Love the standing water idea, wish I'd thought of that at the time! So far as the width goes, I was always worried about this because I knew they would look to be very much on the wide side. The big problem is that I use the old style 20mm x 20mm stands, so factoring in the ladders being placed in the trenches I couldn't really make them any narrower.

I had thought about this as well, but what was in my mind was that under the NetEpic rules the trenches offer a lot of protection. Because of that I felt that the trenches would have to be much more concrete finish. I do think that you're right that I should glue some sand and add some more texture (and repaint) but probably wouldn't add grass because I'm wanting to emphasise the concrete look and feel.

I've got quite a few Epic projects on the go at the moment, but when I get the chance I'm sure I will go back and implement a few of your excellent ideas!

Wow! I'm delighted to hear that my ramblings have inspired you to give it a go! If you do give it a shot, I'd be delighted to see how you got on, would you mind sharing your pics? I'd love to see how your modifications improve my basic idea!

Cheers!

More of Angel Barracks lovely OKI buildings painted up. I'm not delighted with the pics (as usual), but hope they will come out well when I use them on Saturday!

I'm playing Chaos v Imperial Guard. 1st attempt at a video battle report. It may be a disaster, but hoping it turns out ok. More info on the thread;

Haha, no probs AB! Your buildings will definitely enhance my table! Due to the type of scenario, it's doubtful that I'll be using the walls, but expect to see these, the landing pads & the wind turbines make an appearance!
