That was the bad news. This is the good news, such as it is.
I believe this is the best effort I can offer. The casting seems, how does one say, "operable". That is, the deficiencies in the mold can be compensated for with minimal putty, cutting, and/or facades.
Below is a picture of the functional molds (woops, forgot to picture the statuary/turret mold).
1) The statuary/turret mold is working well and can reproduce those really neat swordholding skull dudes, as well as 2 mortar turrets.
2) The main turret mold is curing, and is untested, but I have confidence that it will work.
3) The body mold is pictured, alongside a cast and the original. There are occasional holes in the treads, caused by air bubbles. Experience with the mold can help that. The peaked parts are missing due to breakage (see prior post), but are excellent places to stick the statuary. The cannon undercuts did not fare well, and will need cutting or facades. The backside has a few air bubbles, but can be managed with putty.
So gentlemen, in your miniature opinion, should I proceed with production, or is the quality unacceptable? We must not fall to the "sunk cost fallacy" (see
here). Don't spare the truth, I'm a big daddy and can take it.
