I think you could do something like the SM chapter traits.

Not quite like them I'd hope (As the design team seem consider the Marine Codex pretty much their biggest failing in 4th edition), but I get what you mean. :)

Quite naturally a sensible suggestion from Neal.

I do feel that we should try and continue the current process though as I have seen some very strange and invotive interpretations of lists which have the freadom to experiment in different tournaments. I would hate to end up seeing just one or two lists becoming dominant for the AMTL if we had set paterns.

To tally with Neal's proposal, you'd need a list of permitted weapons for each titan class, at the least.

I will see what i can come up with.
I think i will configure 3 titans for each Configuration.

Really like this idea, but I do understand E&C points about existing models. I also quite like Tiny Tim's suggestions which fall into line with the history an practice of battleship design (a trade off between guns, armour and engines) so how about amalgamating them as follows

1) Make all "small" weapons +25 each (except the "free" corvus pod)
2) Restricting the slots on the smaller titans,
3) Providing the possibility of adding an extra weapon at the cost of speed and armour (shields)

This would give the following possibilities (though the points may not be quite right)
(light) Warlord:-
- 725 points chassis (8DC 4shields), 20 cm movement,
- 3x weapon slot choices
- 4th weapon slot option, but 15cm movement

(Heavy) Warlord:-
- 750 points chassis (8DC 6shields), 15 cm movement,
- 4x weapon slot choices
- 5th weapon slot option, but 4 shields

(Light) Reaver
- 575 points chassis (6DC 3shields), 25 cm movement
- 1x fixed, 2x slot choices
- 4th weapon slot option, but 15cm movement

(Heavy) Reaver
- 600 points chassis (6DC 4shields), 20 cm movement
- 1x fixed, 2x slot choices
- 4th weapon slot option, but 15cm movement

WarHound
- 250 points chassis (3DC 2shields), 30 cm movement
- 1x fixed, 1x slot choice
- Heavy weapon config (+25 gun), 25cm movement

An extra restriction might be that for the Warlord and Reavers, the optional extra weapon must be one of the ?"smaller" ones???

Also, you could provide configuration suggestions and fluff at the bottom of the list for particular flavours of titans and their roles etc

=======================
Like Tim, I am unsure about the *uge* titans, and would strongly urge you yo put them as an option at the bottom of the list, because they are going to be very much "fan based", and very hard to balance - and as Tim says, not really competitive

=======================
Tim, the notes on the first (Wolf) Warhound appear to be copied from the Reaver in error

Its confusing to play against - how do you tell one variant from another? Will the fast ones have longer legs and go faster stripes? Will people model shields? I dont think so... Ill need more titan models to choose a list from (all the different types of warlord etc)

With the chassis I proposed, it would still be WYSIWYG, at least to the extent it is now.  Weapons are obvious; a missing weapon is +5cm speed.  You already have to track shields.

Something more elaborate, like BL's list, might have enough differences that it becomes a problem but a basic system is shouldn't be difficult.

In any case, I support E&C's decision to keep going the direction he is headed.

I'm not in favour of any set designs or restrictions for Titans (however much it may seem to solve alleged problems) and I would like to see the list develop in its present format. I want to be able to choose what my Titan is armed with.

The recent vote (found HERE) on weapon restrictions was fairly straight forward to interpret and we really should just move on from there.

Just adding my voice to the conversation.

OK Onyx

So how do you feel about the idea of different types of Warlord chassis giving slightly different stats?

If we are forced to allow totally flexible weapons, we can readily knock 25 points off the values above, making the WL 725 or 750, the Reaver 550 or 575 and the WH 225, and giving a fully equipped set of titans at the normal prices of 850, 650 and 275 respectively, with options to up-gun or down-grade some aspect as desired.

One question for TRC - given this style of army list, would you consider playing a 2x gun Reaver or a 1x gun WH (and would / should these configurations be permissible)?

i would love to see a return of the old class systems. would it be possible to adapt the old titan legions weapon hard point grade system over as well?

IMO Black legions list is seems pretty decent. im hopeing to playtest some of the configs at some point. but i would like to see some form of weapon option (1 per class-variant maybe?)
