Quote (Dwarf Supreme @ 08 Nov. 2005 (08:01)) | I can honestly say that Guns, Germs and Steel is one of the best books I have ever read in my entire life. Diamond does a superb job in explaining the disparity of technological advance in different cultures. I've only read it once, but I know already that this is one of those books I will read again and again. | G2S was indeed great but his sequel "Collapse" was just not in the same league IMO.
If you liked G2S you might enjoy "From Dawn to Decadence : 500 Years of Western Cultural Life 1500 to the Present" by Jacques Barzun.
I'd set aside a couple of epochs to read it though. It crams a lot of material in.

Finally got myself a copy of "The Steel Tsar" and finished it up the night before we got in. ? Thus I got to read the whole Bastable Trilogy on Deployment!
Lots of good Airship and VSF action!

I'm on William Gibson's -(cyberpunk master- author of Neuromancer et al)- 'Virtual Light' http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec....1389430
Beautiful descriptions of the gritty, grim world, and a terrible vision of future society; a great read so far.

Hi Guys,
I just finished reading H. Beam Piper's "Space Viking," a true sci-fi classic.
It's easy to see why Traveller's authors were so inspired by it.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Primarch,
I have tons of paperbacks: sci-fi, fantasy, men's action novels, espionage, etc.
I'll just send you a small box if you want them. I'm done with them.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.
