Thats pretty slick Dafrca, I'll have to remember that one.... :;):

Of course, if Ebay asks, I have never done it and no one has ever accepted any non-offers I might have sent.  :;):

I know it sucks but look on it this way- they might have outbid you by 10 bucks and 50 cents!!

A lot of people have a hard time understanding this. That is why I like to put the max I will pay and let fate deside if it is mine.

Good point, dafrca. That actually is what I usually do. If you don't set a hard limit from the beginning, it's really easy to get caught up in a bidding war.

Hi!

I have no problem losing to sniping on e-bay. Its the name of the game and I've done it myself.

Everything has rules to exploit. E-bay is no exception.

I do not think of it as Sniping, more like Strategic Bidding.  :;):

I was watching one auction, the bids had exceeded what I would pay but I was curious for fun. It went from $125 to $380 in the last 15 seconds.  :o

Only once have I lost something to sniping that I really wanted, so it kind of stung at first, but I learnad a valuable lesson which has been repeated by others- set a max bid and stick to it.

I always check to see how much something finally goes for.  Often it's way more than I would pay.   :p

Not that I have ever done anything like that, but one must use caution when engaging in "bid bumping" as one might get stuck buying things at a higher price then one wanted to.  :o

Ebay is a fun world.

Snippers can be a real pestillence. ...But I confess that I've done it myself from time to time. :p
I usually submit my bid with the ammount I'm willing to pay when there's about 1 day left. If it goes beyond that then that's just too bad and I let it pass. However in some cases I might up the bid in the finishing minutes if it is an auction I REALLY want. However this is definitely the exception as it usually ends up getting a bit costly.

Cheers! :)

I will bet you are not alone. I know a few people who "Hate those auction snippers" and yet I have seen auctions they bid on in the last 30 seconds.

I think everyone has done it once in a while. It is a part of the Ebay experiance. We all want it at the lowest price, but also do not want to loose.

Hi!

I used to do that, then realized that the often mentioned advice of bidding the maximum your willing to pay and leave it at that is the best course.

I'd actually say the optimal course would be to snipe with your absolute maximum price.

But it's still rude.

It depends, there are some auctions I donot care that much about. So it is fun to watch people bid it up and still they do not get it.  :;):

Hi!

I used to think it was rude for a real long time. Then I realized everybody on e-bay does it. Its sort of the way it rubs for good or for ill.
