I just say, "Hunny, let's go see a guys movie." and her replay is, "Maybe you should go with your friends to see that one."

Of course, that means I have to take her to see her kind of movies once in a while too. ?

I would be more than happy to take my wife to chick flicks once in a while in return for letting me go see a "guys movie." My problem is that my wife thinks that going to the movies, for the most part, is a "rip off." ?:( ? Granted the price for tickets at my local theater is about $9, but we hardly ever go. ? :(

Just remind her the price of a beer at the local bar, or the cost of a hamberger and fries at the local burger stop. It helps the $9 for a movie seem less "High".

Last night my wife and I saw the trailer on tv. She said the movie "looks dumb." I asked if she remembered the cartoon from when we were young. She never heard of it! I tell you, the longer we're married, the less we have in commmon. It's kind of discouraging.   :(

Hi Guys,

Diana doesn't go for miniatures, but...

She does go in for board games and loves a lot of fantasy and sci-fi...

She is reading "Gates of Fire" right now, a historical fantasy that is one of my favorites...

She is also a big Trekkie... (But not too big!)

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

We've been married 11 years now, and although Sandra doesn't like wargaming - barring perhaps Man O' War! - Talisman is ok, and she likes to build model ships. She's better than I am! have to post a couple of pics of her work one of these days.
We have a multitude of differences, but still havn't killed each other and have fun together  :D :D :D

Hm. It seems I'm the newbie with 8 years this August. We are so different I sometimes wonder how on earth we managed to get married.  :;): We are not fighting each other a lot, mind you . It's just that our interests are completely different.

I have been a bookworm since the day I learned to read (and that was at the tender age of 3 1/2...) while she liked sports in her youth. And you can guess how much a bookworm likes physical excercise. I love history books, wargames of any kind, comic strips (and certain comic books) and model tanks while she couldn't be less interested in said topics. Her main interests include gardening (guess who gets to dig most of the large pits needed?   :;): )  and baking. Not that I have anything against the latter...   }:)

Hi!

I like the difference in tastes. I wanted a wife, not a gamer. It makes each distinct. I'm happy with that. :)

Well, these sounds very familiar. It will be 8 years for me in July. I wasn't looking for a gamer when I married Cindy, but I did think I was marrying someone who tolerated my hobbies and wouldn't mind me spending one night a week with my gaming friends. I was wrong.  :(

Hi Guys,

I was looking for a decent kind person and being able to tolerate my games was a secondary consideration. Luckily I got someone who not only tolerates them but can enjoy some of them (board games, movies, books) too.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I agree. I Married my wife for many reasons, none having to do with Games.

Now, would I mind if she wanted to game? No, it would be fine. But do I Need a gamer wife? Nope.  :D

If I had a "mate," I would care less if she was interested in gaming, history, etc.

She would do her "hobby" and I would do mine... and when we were together, we'd do whatever.

I'd be interested in her... My interests are narrow, limited and somewhat eccentric. I'd never expect a female to be interested in playing wargames, painting toys or reading Sci-fi/Mil.History, etc., or watching the History Channel... ?

Most females I meet, and they are very few and far between, are at where I work, the gym, so the only thing we would have in common is working out... and if I "liked" her that would not matter either... ?

In my past experiences, if we could have a good conversation and laugh, then that is all I need... beside being physically attracted.

You can't judge a book by it's cover, however I'm more likely to pick up a book with a GEV "Panzer" on the cover than a "Harly" Romance novel... a picture is worth a "Gozillion" words.

Shallow - "NO" (maybe!)... realistic/high standards more likely. I'm not a "bottom feeder!" ?

Setting higher standards means not settling for less... So for good or ill, "What you sow, so shall ye reap."?:L

I think that part of being really involved with someone is that you can admire their hobby and the way they enjoy it even if it isn't paramount in your own interests.

Diana loves beadwork and making chainmail, which I admire, but don't plan to take as a hobby myself.

I love miniatures, gaming and lots of science fiction, which she admires, but doesn't plan to take as more of a hobby herself.

We get on very well.

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
