My post probably sounded unduly harsh. ?I should be more clear.
=======

What I object to is the inclusion of Titans AND Ordinati AND Knights, not minor support units.

I did not think you were harsh at all.  :D

I think we need to keep in mind we were given a starting point from JJ before we started. One of his instructions was to include these things and create a "generic" Titan Legion list. The idea was that later we might have veriations like "Knight Household" or "AM Legion".

He even used the IG and Marines as examples. The basic generic IG list came first, then they took it and created Siege Masters etc. Same for the Marines. Generic first and then Blood Angelse etc.

In any case, I did not take your comments as Harsh or bad.

I just hope everyone's pessimism (including my own) about the fate of epic is wrong.

I would greatly prefer separate TL, AM (Ordinati), and Knight Household lists. The CI could be put into a new IG list, possibly Cadian for instance. I believe that would give a much crisper, cleaner flavor to units that really deserve the full treatment.

Nealhunt,
I agree with you on this. I love the CI, but I don't think it belongs in a TL; IG is a better fit. TL, AM and Knight Households do deserve their own lists.

I think the Fan Squat list for EA, not to mention the tremendous job on NetEpic, is clear evidence that this community can come up with really good "unofficial" rules to use those models.

I also think you are absolutely correct with this point. After all, wasn't Netepic created in the first place to support SM2/TL after its demise at GW?
I've survived the death and rebirth of Epic many times since AT was released; I'm certainly going to survive when E:A withers on the GW vine. ? :D

Hi!

As I did with epic 40k, I would urge those who like the epic A rules to make their own netepic style group and "cut the cord" from GW. If you want the game to survive and prosper YOU (the player) need to make it your business to support the version of the game you like.

Dependence on GW is not a good idea. They are a company and will only put resources in what makes them profit. For whatever reason they have decided that epic is not profitable (whether this is true or not is inconsequential, they have made up their minds...), therefore its only a matter of time before the plug is pulled indefinitely.

I see a lot of good work for the epic A lists, but in my view its wasted effort if the players dont separate from GW and run it themselves. The players are certainly capable of it. Yes, its work and yes sometimes design egos will clash, but the final work could guarantee Epic A's existence in the long run. While its under GW's boot, I just dont see it around in any robust form several years from now.

On the netpeic list there is a fond phrase of ours...

..put you money where you mouth is.

Perhaps Epic A players should do just that.

Although I agree with you 100% Primarch, I must say that because I did not "dislike" NetEpic, maybe I just circle back and relearn Netepic. :;):

Hi!

I would really like to see more fan driven version take off. Its nice to have netepic around, but epic would be more robust if say a Netepic A or even a Netepic 40k existed. The amount of ideas and "cross-pollination" would drive each project for a long time.

Hi Guys,

I've been really wanting to try out the E-A Playtest AMTL army, but I've been too busy developing the new E-A 'Nid list to get to it yet.

I haven't even got to see the Baran Siegemasters yet.

Eric-Chern usually plays vanilla Space Marines or IG...

Chuck does the same with Eldar ocassionally coming to the party...

And Aaron does the same, although he really likes the new "Nid list...

My local E-A gamers are pretty conventional.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I will admit, I like when a company takes the role of R&D for their product. By having a single point of "Officaldom" it helps keep some things in check.

However, having said that, I dislike when a company inists on being the "offical" souce but does not follow through with the responsability that goes with it.

GW has, many times, ignored a game then called foul when the fans take over. :(

Primarch, you are right, as long as we all join in, the effort is better off with the input.

Neal

I would rather that this AMTL list is a bit like the 3 lists in the main rulebook- these 3 generic lists for IG/SM/Orks have been followed by more restrictive thematic lists such as Siegemasters, White Scars, KoS/Snakebitez etc.

I would love in the future to see follow up lists (whether official or fan lists) for certain variant Titan Legios/Knight Households.

But I would rather get official playtested stats for each of the main units first. And after the disappointments of SG Support I don't want to gamble that we will get future official playtested lists.

Cheers

James

Got the data on Ordinati, CI and Ork Speedstas ... the vault is a good thing ! :D   We went on line at my gaming buddie's hooch and he printed the stuff for me !  And for the record ... I hate Knights ... don't have many, only the ones from TL (and they were converted to Chaos !)

I agree with this up to a point, and would be more than happy to actually lead the charge on this. The only thing that I am worried about is diluting the Epic population. While EpicA still features as part of the SG catalogue, and while the Vault is functioning as a rally point, then I think that a project like this could harm the game. However, if EpicA is ever totally dropped, the web site scrapped and SG disbanded (and two years ago I would not have believed that I would even be talking about this), then I would love to get this off the ground.

I guess that I will keep an eye on progress. I really like EpicA as a game, and it is my favourite version. I have not been tempted to consider this kind of action before.

E:A is the best version IMO, and we will use 85-90% of it, plus some stuff from SM1-2, E40K, etc. ! :D  Good show, Boyz !!
