Oi - we want a monster to rampage over Malta too!
Where do we apply?
Is there a queue?
As we're far from nuclear test sites, can we claim mythological Greek monsters for the Med?
Hydrae and Chimerae and Ceti and Scyllae and all that?
Atlas vs Cetus - whee!

Quote (Why is it that all gamers are natural rule set collectors?)
I don't know, but about 99.9% of us are rules collectors. I collect rules to expand the possibilities of use for my miniatures.
|
A very good question Tas. Me, I'm just curious about game mechanics and background stories. My brain is so warped that reading a ruleset with really good mechanics is like reading a good novel to me.

And quite a reasonable demand it is too V!

Which also explains our next behavioural odditiy- which is that once we have amassed this collection of Rules, we then modify them!
At lest your warped brain has lots of good company Mojarn!

Hi Tas,
Haven't got a handy link for those d/l-able "The Creature That Ate Sheboygan" rules have you? |
They're all at 6mm_minis in the Godzilla folder!
I already gave you the link.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Speaking of monster games, have you played the AH game Monsters Menace America? ?
My brother bought the latest version (there was an earlier one) and I have to say, it is pretty good. ?Not too complicated, plays quick, yet can require some interesting tactical choices to think about.
my 2cents, iblisdrax

Yes. I own it. |

Remember that I am after the better parts to migrate to MI for use with kids. My understanding is that a major part of #2 is detailing specific Human units, which 'Escape from MI' already does.

Quote (primarch @ 18 2005 May,12:12) | ...I like L-4's approach... say nothing. I would not even apologize because YOU DID NOTHING WRONG. If he's having a bad day, week, or month and is going through some stress that you are unaware of THEN that is no excuse to take it out on you.
[snip]
Point is, while it may arouse your curiosity to know the "why" I don't think it's worth the effort. | Seems Primarch and I think alike. As I said on the phone, when this guy cut you off and will not allow discussion, he took control of the problem away from you. Further, as it is clear he has the issues, it is not your problem and again you do not have the control.
Let it go, it is not worth the effort to "understand" beyond... He is a dork and not worth the title "Friend".

So, what have you been doing for 6mm sci-fi lately?
Hi Guys,
I've been working on a couple of 6mm sci-fi projects lately (21 May 2005):
--------------------------------
1. Battle of Hoth:
PLASTIC KITS & MECHWARRIOR GAMING PIECES: I have been assembling a Hoth force using a mixture of AMT/ERTL/MPC Battle of Hoth action Scene figures and cheap Mechwarrior Clickie-tech TM figures.
10mm METAL MINIS: Several manufactuerers do make 10mm metal miniatures including Reaper's CAV, AOG's OOP GROPOS, DP-9's Heavy Gear and others.
CHEAP MECHWARRIOR 10mm FIGURES: I like some of those 10mm metal miniatures but went with the mix of plastic model kit figures and Mechwarrior clickie figures because they were extremely affordable. I can get Mechwarrior Clickie figures for a US Dollar or less a figure and often for a US quarter or less. Most Mechwarrior figures come with three to five infantry on them and when I cut them out and base them on 3/8", 1/2" or 3/4" inch fender washers then they really go far.
STANDARD FENDER WASHER BASING: I have based them either singly for partial squads or in multiples (3-5) for heavy squads. Heavy weapon teams are based on larger fender washers to fit everyhting.
ODD INFANTRY BASING: The plastic AMT/ERTL/MPC Taun-tauns fit pretty well on 1/2" fender washers. Most heavy equipments (Imperial E-web repeating blasters, Imperial AT-ST walkers, Rebel Atgar defense lasers, Rebel Golan Defence Turrets, Rebel heavy repeating blasters, etc.) are based on 3/4" or 1" fender washers.
AT-AT BASING: The AMT/ERTL/MPC AT-ATs have custom bases to fit their elongated walker forms.
AT-ST MODELS: I'm using a mix of the AMT/ERTL/MPC AT-STs and Micro Machines AT-STs.
REBEL SNOWSPEEDERS: I'm using a mix of the AMT/ERTL/MPC snowspeeders and Micro Machines snowspeeders.
ECHO STATION: I am using a customized Micro Machines toy base for Echo Station.
REBEL GENERATOR: I am using the vacuform generators for this piece. I may use some pieces made for my 6mm Epic minis as well.
REBEL ION CANNON: I am using a piece cut off my Micro Machines toy base for this model.
REBEL STARSHIP FLEET: I am using a mix of AMT/ERTL/MPC Millenium Falcons and Rebel Transports as well as some Micromachine Electronic Collectors Edition Rebel Blockade Runners (Corellian Corvettes) for the Rebel fleet escaping Hoth.
RULES: I have been playing with either using the WEG "Assault on Hoth" game rules or a DIRTSIDE II adaption. Both have pros and cons. I have also tried a few home-brew sets.
RESOLUTION: I made a New Year's resolution to complete this project this year (2005). That's one of the reasons I started this E-group - SSSW ? SSSW (Small Scale Star Wars) Wargaming - to help me share ideas and keep me motivated.
URL for SSSW:
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/SSSW/
DS-II ADAPTION / RULES:
I've been modifying and editing the document found here for an improved trial run of the rules. I've run the scenario twice and enjoyed it, but the scenario could use a facelift:
http://www.cygnusx1.info/ds2/multiverse ... p#vehicles
-----------------
2. Epic-Armageddon: Tyranid and IG armies and rules...
As several of you know, I was put in charge of writing the rules for Tyranids in the Epic-Armageddon game system and I have been steadily playtesting and writing lists over at the official site for that game.
TYRANID ARMY: - I have been continually building and modifying a "bio-bug" Tyranid army for use with Epic-Armageddon, DS-II and other 6mm sci-fi game systems. I've been including a number of proxy figures from other miniature systems so my Nid army is pretty nonstandard!
IG JOPALLI ARMY: - I've been working on this army for some time and have most of it built and primed. the Jopalli IG army unts are originally from a poor overpopulated planet and wear a swamp-type camouflage. They are known for their cunning and deviousness. I have been building them largely as a mechanized unit with Chimera APCs.
----------------------------
3. Giant Monster Games:
METROPOLIS: - I've been building up some skyscrapers and other terrain for use in a Godzilla-type game.
GIANT MONSTER CLUB: - ?I've been slowly basing and painting a variety of monsters to stomp the city.
New Avalon Hill game: Monsters Menace America! - I have the original version and am looking forward to picking up a copy of the new edition when I am able to do so. It looks very good and I loved the original.
----------------------------
4. STARSIEGE - REBELLION:
- I've collected a small pile of these minis and haven't decided what to do with them yet.
----------------------------
5. STAR FRONTIERS - KNIGHTHAWKS:
- A friend of mine just sold me some of these minis at a very reaonable price and I've always wanted some. They have a great pulp sci-fi look to them and I have many fond memories fo Star Frontiers from the 1980s.
- The Sathar are a perfect match for the worm minis sold by Gladiator Games in the UK.
-----------------------------
6. Traveller - COACC!
- I bought a copy of the COACC book recently (found a deal on E-bay) and would like to run the campaign out of that book in the far future after I finish my two New Years Resolution projects: Monster games and the battle of Hoth.
- At Wishing Well, they had some great miniature aircraft that cost about 10 US cents a piece and my girlfriend bought me a small pile of them!
-----------------------------
Shabbat Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Tas,
Tas: Sorry mate, I missed it.... |
No worries, mate!
Tas: *** Is the Expansion book, "Giant Monster Rampage II: World War?," worthwhile or will I have most of the ideas with just the first book? *** |
** Do you have the first GMR book yet? **
If you have the frist then you can see that GMR is a very home-brew project and is less professional-looking than MI. I still like it very much though although I think MI has more charm in comparison to GMR.
I would buy the second just to complete the second and you can acquire them at a discount relatively easily.
------
"Giant Monster Rampage II: World War" adds some new monster abilities as well as human units. To be honest, I thought that the comparable MI book was a much better buy, but I'm still glad I have a copy of "Giant Monster Rampage II: World War."
Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
