Hi Guys,

Someone sent me this link for all of you pulp sci-fi / atomic rocket lovers:

http://www.projectrho.com/rocket/index.html

Your imagination has been captured by the roaring rockets from Heinlein's SPACE CADET or the Polaris from TOM CORBETT, SPACE CADET.

But are such rockets possible?

How does one go about defining the performance of these atomic-powered cruisers?

This document gives some hints and equations that will allow back-of-the-envelope calculations on such matters. Though horribly simplistic, they are far better than just making up your figures.

This site was mainly intended for science fiction authors who wanted a little scientific accuracy. But anybody who is interested can play with the toys contained within, designing their own Planet Rangers Rocketships. It is assumed that the reader has enough knowledge to know the difference between a star and a planet, and enough skill to use a pocket calculator. Computer spreadsheet and computer programming skills are a plus, spreadsheets in particular will make your life much easier.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I'm certainly not reading all this thread, so I'm going to assume this is about what we are up to.

Things have been very topsey turvey as of late, and still haven't fully settled down.

Just as I thought everything was settling, the girlfriend has had enough of living in the Midlands and wants to move back to where she's from (wiltshire) so we are now looking to move.

And then there's been another thing taking up other spare moments, my bike;

Hi ShadowHunter,

I'm certainly not reading all this thread, so I'm going to assume this is about what we are up to.

I started this thread to be a sort of personal information thread (AKA a poor man's BLOG) for myself, but I don't mind sharing... :;):

It's good to hear from you! :)

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Guys,

My roommate treated to a film "Sin City" that he wanted to see. The company was great, but the film was poor. I don't recommend "Sin City." It was way over the top with bad taste.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Has anyone read H. Beam Piper's "Uller Uprising?"

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Maksim!

I have just gotten a bit of spare time after dropping off the net for a few weeks.

I am heavily involved in a few projects at work that are very taxing.

I was grabbed by our VP of IT and dragged kicking and screaming into the void that is called Ottawa (main office) and was plopped down in front of a group of lawyers who where attempting to understand the technology behind video uni-casting and how it affects the upcoming voip and video-conferencing applications we developed.  This week, the CRTC (canadian radio and television commission) are ruling on the regulations for our industry.

So, my Mega-Board project, my gaming and most alarming, my contact with my friends has been severly curtailed.

I have been meaning to get back to you Maksim, sorry if it seemed like I dropped off the face of the planet.

best regards

Dalton

Hi Guys,

I finished the v5.35 playtest version of the Epic-Armageddon Tyranid Army List yesterday.

You can find it over at the official E-A Playtest forums or at chern's site for Epic Army Cards for E-A.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Guys,

I just finished reading the original Star Wars (Episode IV) novel by George Lucas and enjoyed it. It was a "blast from the past."

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
