A brief description. Parts used here are:

Epic Armageddon titan base: 0.50
Warmaster Cargo - Forge World (SG-WAR-W-014): 2.50

Total cost: 3.00

These Warmaster cargo minis are pretty much perfect. I have just garnished with a few Orks cut from their bases.

I have also added a flag for two reasons - each objective will be colour coded, to make it easier to refer to, and the flag will mark the point at which measurements are made to determine which units are within range of it for vistory conditions.

Well, I am off on holiday. This means that yesterday (the 16th) was the last day that I could work on this project. So, I will be putting this 'on ice' for one month. I will pick it up again on the 17th of next month and take it from there, making me one month behind the rest of the guys here.

At this stage, I have one objective assembled and undercoated, and one more built (pictures when I get back). The third is reasonably easy to put together, and that just leaves the Gladius escorts. I may even have this lot assembled within the month!

So, see you all for now. I will be away from the workbench, but I will still be here fairly regularly as I will have web access.

See you in a month.

The End of an Error

Well, this will probably come as a complete surprise to absolutely no-one, but I am going to have to officially pull out of this. I am coming to the end of my third month, and so far have managed to complete exactly zero months successfully! In fairness, the third month was going to be extremely difficult to finish in time, but the final month was about to be a lot easier.

However, I am not giving up, rather I am changing the format which takes it outside the regulations of the Gamers Tale. I will simply continue without the time limit. I have found that, unusually, my enthusiasm has continued for this project and I am determined to finish it. It is just that other time commitments make each month more of a struggle than fun. So, I will go back to the first month, and finish those forces completely, post pictures and descriptions, and then move onto the second month and so on.

I have no idea when this will be completed, but I will keep working away at all.

I will post a few pictures of work in progress soon, along with the final months purchases for future reference. Sorry for this, but I will battle on.

With this thread withdrawing from the official Tale of Gamers event and more towards a painting diary, I will make a few changes to it. The first is to open it up so that comments and responses can be posted directly here. So, feel free to hurl taunts about my lack of progress directly here!

Secondly, I guess that I should briefly outline the purchases that I had planned for the fourth month. These were:

Two packs of (four) Ork Battlewagons - to be given to the Ork Warband from the second month with the extra four Boyz units. A total of 16 pounds.

One additional Gothic vessel, at 8 pounds and detailed below.

Way back in the first month of this event, I decided that Marines would be a good force because they have a very limited variety of vessels available. This means that I can add conversions and models from elsewhere without too much confusion. Anything the largish on a small base is a Strike Cruiser, anything on a large base is a Battle Barge (or Venerable) and the rest are smaller Escorts. This allows a lot of variety, without worrying about how to identify the ships in the game.

With this in mind, I decided that in the final month I would get something different, to break my Marine fleet up a bit. I decided on a vessel from the Ground Zero, Full Thrust range, the Musashi Class Super Battlecruiser, as it looked like it would fit the Marine background. Salute was my chance to pick one up. I was not sure whether it would be Strike Cruiser size, or Battle Barge size, as it fits somewhere in the middle, but the type of base should make it obvious whatever I finally decide on.

By the way, in these pictures, the Strike Cruiser is shown for a size comparrison. Also, the minis are temporarily stuck together with Blu-Tac. The vessel in the previous post is also missing the opposite rear engine block.

Also while I was Salute, I picked up a few other vessels. There is a smaller version of the above ship, which I bought in case I decided that the Musashi would make a Battle Barge and I would also like a Strike Cruiser in the same design later. The other vessel in the picture below I just liked, so picked one up.

Finally, I always use Full Thrust attack craft for my Gothic fleets, so these are the ones that I have selected to be my Thunderhawks.

Since I have gone through most of this event not wanting to post pictures of anything not completed, and then not completing much, there have not been many pictures. So, to put that right, here are a few pictures of my Epic Ork Warlord, Big Mekboss Lugnutz - still work in progress from month one!

Angled shot. Yes, this guy is big.  :p  But, I think that it gets the look that I was going for as a MegaArmoured Mek/Nob.

And finally, the other side showing his faithful Gretchin, Fetchit. (Sorry for the slightly fuzzy picture.)
