My Skorchas are based on 3/4" craft sticks cut to 1 1/2" lengths, which is pretty close to a 20x40mm warmaster base.  Given the small superglue joint, I recommend basing them.  The buggies/trakks I have on roughly 20x30mm of the same length.  Ditto for the stompas (20x30), with the heels almost touching the back edge of the base.  One WM base should be plenty stable.

I would also field the MagnaKannon as a Zzap gun or as a Flakwagon.

As to the original question:

>> Big Warband (Goffs) + 3 Nobz + 1 Stormboy + 4 Boyz + 12 Battlewagons (+ Warboss) - 1000

Wow, that's big.  Field it as a Uge mob with the wagons and you can come in at 920 points.  You drop the Stormboyz and one Nobz stand, but if you scrounge up the models, you can add in 2 boyz/grotz for free because you already paid for them.  Or, you can field the exact same models as above, just 10 points cheaper (500 +420 for wagons +70 for stormboyz/nobz).

>> Big Warband (Bad Moons) + 2 Boyz + 4 Big Gunz + 4 Dreadnoughts - 620

I like this.  It's a properly shooty Bad moons mob and you can garrison this monstrosity.

>> Normal Kult O' Speed - 5 Warbikes & 10 Warbuggies + 1 Gunwagon w/ Oddboy - 460
>> Normal Kult O' Speed (9 Skorchas) - 225

I don't understand your mix here.  The first KoS really muddles its role.  It's got some good shootiness (buggies and the oddboy), but then you throw in the bikes which are CC specialists.  Admittedly, bikes shoot fairly well if you get them into 15cm, but I still don't get it.  Is this just paint-job driven?

With this group, my personal mix would be:

KoS - 5 bikes, 9 skorchas, 2 buggies (mostly assault, but a bit of 30cm range for placing BMs and a _lot_ of 15cm range if you want to shoot/support)
KoS - 9 buggies and oddwagon (everything is shooty)

>> Mekboy Stompamob (Goffs) + Stompa - 300

>> Mekboy Gunzmob (Bad Moons) (8 Big Gunz) - 200

You really need Nobz here.  A Gunzmob without Nobz has a very hard time shedding BMs and will spend most of the game suppressed even if your opponent only takes the occasional pot-shot at it.  Also, I would take 2 gunz from the warband to count as big gunz to field a Big mob for just 25 points more.  The big gunz extra range is wasted in the warband, and it works out better here.  It would save you 25 points in the overall army (-50 from the warband, +25 here) and with the points from the Goff warband, you can afford to buy the nobz.

>> Blitz Brigade (Goffs) - 5 Gunwagons - 185*

That's an okay formation, but it will be fragile.  If you can round up enough to take it to 8 gunwagons or 6 and a couple oddwagons, I think you'll get a lot more use out of it.

>> Total: 2990

Like I said above, changing the force org to take advantage of the size discounts will allow you to at least add a nob to a big gunz formation.  As far as actually adding new models oustide of the above, you can drop a few of the semi-random "add-ons" (stormboyz, the +1 unit in the KoS) and use the points to bump the Blitz Brigade to a Big BB.  That would keep you at 7 activations, make your goff mob bigger, and bring your goff wagons up in size to make them tougher.

I wouldn't split the KoS up any smaller than you have it.

>> Interestingly, the above list makes use of none of the Evil Sunz warband, only the Goffs, Bad Moonz and Kult o' Speed.....

Just as an aside, Goff and Evil Sunz paintjobs are usually close enough that it takes little effort to switch one over to the other.  I've done that with some of the eBay stuff I've acquired.

Well, this ought to save on my painting time - turns out the Bad Moons are already painted, and to a (reasonable) Epic standard. They need proper basing, but I have one question for people - would you say that the material I was using to base the ToSG Mentor Legion too coarse or does it look OK?

Do you have a pic of this, by any chance? ?Just curious.

I haven't, but I know a site that does.

Job for today - finish original 6 vehicles, work on Stompa mob, big gunz (for Bad Moonz), and extra vehicles.

Next question - I want to fill the holes in the old square Epic bases for when I put Big Gunz, Bikes, Boarz, War Buggies, etc on them, as otherwise it makes basing them awkward. Is just using Milliput the easiest solution, or can anyone think of a better way?

I use plasticine or Blu-tack; cheap and easy to find, and when covered with PVA, paint/flock/superglue etc it is perfectly hard and durable.

I'm the same, plasticine is a great job (especially when the other half can get it in bulk lots, in various colours) :D :D

I usually just fill the lot up with PVA and dump loads of pepper, cat litter, flock, static grass or whatever comes to hand. :D

Ping!

What a great idea for fine-grain, tasty, epic base texture...

Currently assembling a Big Boarboyz unit, as well as attaching 10 War Buggies/traks to bases, and sanding the bases of 4 Dreads and 4 Shokk Attack Gunz.

I've got a random 2-armed metal dread - Killa Kan, anyone?

Next question (after the 2-armed dread one on the previous page) - how big would people recommend running the Feral Ork Boarboyz Mob at? AS I said, I'm assembling a "Big" warband (12 stands), but I do have more Boarboyz in my "tub of loose E.Ork figs", so can probably add some if I wanted to expand the formation to 'Uge, or split it to 2 smaller formations.

Thoughts?

You have two limitations that I can see. ?You don't have enough grots to do a mainstream ork army and you don't have enough buggies or other appropriate raw material to make tons of trukks for a speed freeks list.

Of course, while you have some boarz, I think you're nowhere near a respectable feral ork army.

Just as a note, what sort of numbers are we talking about for "enough" with regards to buggies, and what d'you think I'd need to add for a Feral Ork force - going through what I have, I think I can make 2 Big Boarboy units and a Trappa formation at the minimum, while I've got around 20 Warbike stands - and I've lost count of the number of "Ork InvasioN" war buggies I have.

Here's a thought - I could use the "Ork Horde" battlewagon as a Trukk, as oppossed to as Battlewagons - and I have a *lot* of these things, chief :)
