Just talked to the G/W US Troll. Bo5A should be available in the US March 12/05 ... in case anyone was wondering...

Some games here picked up copies at the Conflict tourney this weekend. They had five copies for sale in the store there

Haven't seen it yet. Sounds fun (mind you its still Warmaster) and the terrain is supposed to be quite good

A bit strange that they choose to include hills in the boxed set. They are after all the easiest piece of terrain you can construct yourself. Personally I would have preferred to have more ruins, complete buildings and other stuff which is really time consuming to build.
I look forward to see more pics of from the range: If the plastics are as good as the Warmaster metals it just might push me intoo collecting this game as well :;):

Cheers! :)

Cheers for the pics Jimbo :)

Hmmm.. I'm not completely sure about the infantry... The contours doesn't look as sharply defined as the Warmaster metals but of course it could also be the paint job. If these are plastics I'd say that they doesn't look quite as good as some of the Epic plastics but then again it is a bit difficult to judge. (and after seein stuff like the Grey Knights the standards for what can be achieved has suddenly been raised quite a bit!) They are by no means bad but I guess that from 10 mm scale I expected a bit more detail. Let's wait and see the rest of the range.  The ruins look nice though.

Cheers! :)

From the pictures in Fanatic magazine I would have to agree with your comments.

I'd have to agree with the comments regarding the detail on the plastics minis also, maybe childlike figs for a childlike book (don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Hobbit), but they do look simplistic. The ruins do look good though and as I've said before it's almost inevitable that the box is going to land on my desk soon.

I love the concept, but wont pay that kind of money for it. ?

I got interested in the idea when the first movie came out and bought myself an armload of 6mm fantasty figs from Irregualr.  No, they are not as ncie as GW figs, but the price made it an affordable enterprise. ?Coupled with Hordes of the Things rules- it was vastly more affordable.

Hi Guys,

The price on the UK website is expensive, 50UK pounds equals over $120 Cdn.  BUT I have been talking to the mail order trolls here in Canada, they are going to list the game for $85 Cdn.

If you consider how much you get, the cost per stand now is very reasonable.  If you buy 6 sets, you get three full mountains, a small ruined city, lots of river terrain and if the unit costing is anything like warmaster, about 1500 points of elves, humans, dwarves as well as about 5000 points of goblins.

If you combine this with buying from a non-gw shop, you can negotiate a further 10% off (more depending upon how GW prices it)

So, you get enough units for a lot of different games for alot less than some comparable system.

I agree that the models are simplistic, but the models are well formed and since they are plastic, they are easy to modify.  I have spent alot more on irregular miniatures and found that the quality was so bad that I will never buy from them again. (I have ended up storing the models for a few years and finally just gave them away because I would never use them in a game).

So, I would suggest that if you are going to buy the game, call Cdn mail order and preorder the game.  But be quick, they did not know how nice the game was and only ordered 50 units and they will sell out quickly.

best regards

Dalton

Looks like either someone was asleep at the wheel or they read my post about the US pre-order price.
Now it is $80 US, now it is cheaper to buy it from canada with the exchange.

best regards

Dalton
