Reading a cool book about WW2 Aerial combat vicotries - and the amazing exploits of Finnish Fighter pilots. ?A very supressed area of military endeavour. ?Their victories against the Red Air Force are quite outstanding.

What book is that? And if you are interested in Finnish pilots be sure to visit the virtual pilots website. They have many interviews and articles there. All translated to English. ? :)

I understand that there is a very good personal account by Finland's greatest fighter ace, Ilmari Juutilainen.

Have you seen a copy floating about anywhere in English Mojarn?

I was thinking about the "promised" GW fighter combat game (and not holding my breath at all) and was wondering if anyone has done any conversion work for a fighter game such as "Silent Death" or the like?

I have been doing some Battlestar Galactica Viper v Raider games in this game system lately and thought it could be a good medium for this in the interim????

Hi Tas,

My favorite old fighter game is Renegade Legion.

I also have Silent Death.

However, the old "beer and pretzels" game "Bommas Over The Sulpha River" works fine for me. It's simple and fun.

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Gday Maksim,

the old Renegade Legion series of games was IMHO one of The Best sci-fi ever made.  The integration and mechanics between Prefect (grand strategic)Leviathan (big naval battles), Interceptor (fighter combat), Centurian (ground combat) and Legionnaire ( RPG) was excellent and I've still got a full set of everything released for RL in my garage.

The only 'problem' was that it was so wonderfully detailed that I couldnt dothe grand epic scale attacks I wanted to.  I found that anything mroe than 3-6 vehicles per side (in all games) just bogged down far too much.  But for a skirmish battle at that scale it was fantastic.  What a pity FASA dropped it.

Think I might just nip out to the garage for a ferret around.... :D

though I suspect that we will never see this.... it should be noted that it is not a fighter combat game, it is a squadron combat game.

In other wordsl, not fighter versus fighter, but flights of fighters fighting each other.

Terrible idea really! May be moer "realistic" as JJ once said, but when were Orks realistic?

Yes true, but I imagined that this meant its sqn v sqn in as much as epic is still unit vs unit.  You still manoeuvre individual elements and they still fire and die individually but its the unit as a whole we are concerned with.

Or am I barking up the wrong tree?  If its just "my sqn fire at your sqn" then all you have to do is use BFG... ???
