I will never reveal the secrets of my home land.
Oh all right, then:
Huge Crawler: - A very large tracked transport a la shuttle transporter. - Use any 1/72 scale tank as a chassis.
Mega Crane: - This one's at least three times taller than the Imperator. - Use an old windscreen wiper with the rubber removed; this can be a mast if you just fix it in the ground, or a real crane if you construct a good anchor and base and winch - Any pics of tower cranes or dockside cranes should help, as would plastic-card and loose odds and ends.
Transport Vehicles: - Use Epic models or scale-similar stuff from others... - But no trucks... - Unless they have more than 10 wheels!
Walls: - Fortress sections, based on any suitable fortress sections or made of (ideally) ceiling panels cut to size; with tech-areas scattered around - Use bits of wrecked printers, circuits, etc.
COLOURS: - Oh, and remember, all colours should be shades of red down to reddish brown, with sand and the occasional black and yellow stripes.
Oh, and send pictures - I'm homesick!
P.S. - You could even add a small, sinister, skull bedecked, metallic colour shrine; remember the Dragon (no, not Bruce Lee, that C'tan type....)
P.P.S. - THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: EPIC - NOTHING IS TOO BIG FOR US (er - except a Repulsive class grand cruiser; or an Orc Hulk; or a craftworld...

I'd go with all the above too, I've always pictured it, like the earth, as being entirely built on, no virgin ground at all, usually too with a blade runner flavour. Not really practical to actually play on so I suppose some abstraction would be required.

Temples, shrines, and/or cathedrals to the machine god would be a good addition.

I think there would be covered walkways between some buildings, monorail of some sort, many leveled roads, and lots of towers.
I think one thing I would do also is try and place a few "holes" or openings that give the illusion that there is a lot below the "table" level as well. Once I saw a board that had a few openings with pictures at the bottom taken from some Sci-Fi type movies. the pictures seemed to show many (more the 30) levels down.

Power plant. All those things need power.
An easy way to represent a factory would be to make a area filled with exhaust pipes. Along the lines of a a steel forest.
The exhaust pipes are from the factories that are under ground. This way you only have to represent the pipes and not the factory themselves. Which may be so large as to not be able to be represented on the board.
Take Care

*** How about a worshop pit/smeltery/refinery in the spirit of the LOTR pits around Orthanc where Saruman forged his armies? *** ?
That could be hard to get right on a flat atble, but what about inside a hollowed out mountain or inside an extinct volcano aka the Titan base in "Crusade for Armageddon?"
------
I like the shrine idea too! -
*** What about a temple built around an ancient machine-god: a Titan! ***

A bit late off the draw on this one but since thats the story of my life...
A giant Tech-Priest administration building/cathedral in the form of a pyramid...
Because after all whats Mars without pyramids?
And in all honesty I do actually have a couple of old Grendel and JR Miniatures resin pyramids I throw on the table occasionaly just for a different look.

Heh. When my son came home from Burger King with a Yu-Gi-Oh toy packaged in a pyramid, my mouth started watering.
I went and bought 3 more, just to get the pyramid box they came in. A masonite base, some gravel and a can of textured spray paint later and I have a set of 4 pyramids on 6" square bases for about 7 bucks in materials.
Plus, my son got to keep the toys.
