Hi!
I came across this on the miniatures page:
http://www.themoldworks.com./untitled2.html
If anyone can sculpt their own creations, I'm more than willing to pay for the molds which we could make minis for forum members by just covering the costs of making them.
Just think what could be possible in the realm of 6mm figures for epic from orginal designs.
One can dream.....
What do YOU think?

Hey! Thats right up the road from me! Well, about an hour and a half away, but who's counting? Very interesting site. Do they do the casting of actual minatures, or do they just do the master molds?

Hi!
Good question, be worth asking them.
Of course, its moot without someone who can sculpt stuff.

I think we have qualified sculpters in here. they're just hiding somewhere; we need to distribute the sculpter prods...

Can anyone describe how the casting process works? (from start to finish) - It can't be that simple or we'd all be doing it...
Also, what kind of machinery is required?
In terms of making figures, I guess you could make your own "Space Elves", "Green aliens", "Armoured soldiers", "sci-fi monsters"....

When I finish my Necron Monolith sculpt, I was going to turn it over to Jervis, but now I'm thinking that maybe our own venture would be better.

Depending on what happens with Fanatic, I may have some "greens" going spare, but the problem is I tend to copy GW models so we couldnt mould them ourselves for IP reasons
You also have to be careful how you've made them.
If you've sculpted them purely from GS, then it should be OK (how delicate they are is another issue.)
Most moulds are made using a pressurised or high temperature vulcanizing rubber. Any plastics, superglue or some resins in the initial model would be destroyed in the mould making process resulting in a useless mould & a dead "Green".
Thus you'd need to arrange to get a RTV mould made formost models. From this you could make a couple of Resin master models & from those you'd make the production mould.
The cost could mount up fast I think.....
Having said all of that, if anyone here does start to look into the production elements with a serious mind to it, I would be interested in doing some pieces - just to learn more about how things need to besculpted in order for them to make good production models.

I don't know if they would be cheap, but they would be 'exclusive' so to speak. I like it.
