Oh yeah, I am surprised that everyone is so excited about this.  When I was bitching about the metals in the forum, everyone seemed to back Jervis on the ready to play out of the packet minis.  I love converting, and really hated the idea that I wouldn't be able to chop apart my new figs the way I wanted.

BTW, I'll post pics soon, but I chopped the heads off my Slaanesh Beastriders and put them on two of the newer Chaos Marines to make Thousand Sons marines.  I don't know why the Beastriders were given the heads that they were, but I also stuck a head on a Standard Bearer and Heavy Bolter trooper.  I added a Tzneetch Scorceror and had a cool Tzneetch command stand.  Try doing that with metal.

....The metal stuff was rather good too- especially the fantastic new style of Eldar vehicles, and the majority of the IG tanks- some went a bit overboard on the detail for me.... :)

Hi!

If there plans include to release a "generic" sprue with more figures and "special" figures in metal, that is probably the best news for epic since......since....well...its been a damn long time since we had good news for epic! :)

Jesting aside this is of MAJOR impact from a marketing aspect. The ease of attracting new players due to this will be an order of magnitud, not to mention the renewed sales to us "old gitz" since we always can use MORE plastic.

This is indeed GOOD news.

First off - hurrah!!!!!!! Epic plastics are back!!!!! Yes!!!! Kick ass!!!!

Second - If I knew they were going to do this I wouldn't have bought so much stuff!!! I could be ?80 better off!!! Oh well. I just have a lot of snipping to do...

Although many people believe that Epic:A could and will fail, I think that this has saved it. It will now attract more players as plastic will be back.

Also - I hope it means this but, will we now have PLASTIC TAU?!?!?!?!?!?! That would be sooooooooo kick ass!!!!

I just hope that they keep the price down. Or put more in a box for ?5?

Cheers

Chris

PS Plastic Tau would be good for you Primach! I guess it's 50,000 pts of them for you!

of course no one has mentioned the "huge" disadvantage that the new plastics will bring...

I won't be able to sell a few Imperial Guard sprues on eBay now for silly amounts of money

bah humbug

Well, you can but you have to get it up soon.  :p

I remember when they started to see the archive stuff from Mail Order and I saw people paying 3 and 4 times what you could just call and buy it for. That lasted about a month and then people caught on.

There will be no plastic TAU I am afraid they are only making minor modifactions not new sprues.

Yes Tom, I got the same thing out of it. All the new figs, Raptors, and the like will be metal. And the new armies, Tau, Necron, etc., will also be metal.  Either way G/W will get my full support in the best way it counts - by monetary ($) contributions ...

But isn't this going back on what they said, they can't make metal models along side plastic because the plastic will sell amazingly better.

Just a thought

Cheers

It depends, Metal is the only way to get certain units like Termies and Rough Riders... sure you can go without, but you games will be that much harder and more predictable.

Of course we can! The amount of 'OOP' stuff that I have seen on EBay going for a higher price than GW sells is stupid. And anyway, the sprues that we have will be OOP, and people will really want old plastic versions of the specialists.

The marketting and production with GW has always been dubious for me, but this is the best solution that I could think of. This is great for the gamers, and not just for the company. GW gets a lot of (justified) bad flak for their marketting policies, but this seems to be done for the player and the game, not just profits. And that is the fist time that I have said that about GW in a LONG time.

 Hehe, yeah, I'm sure there will always be lots of gullible fools on Ebay willing to shell out many ?? to buy old stuff.... :;):

And we can hope that if Epic A sells really, really, really well, then we might see plastic Tau (and indeed Cadians :) ) in the future..... But it will have to sell very well indeed I would think... :{

It would be nice to see new special troop figs around even if its metal.  I cant see why you wont see what you wish for Stormseer as it looks like they are updating epic to 40k versions, so who knows what will be seen. It can only be seen as a positive thing. Now if only we could move the EpicA date closer  ???
