In one of the threads we have been discussing the possibility of creating a 'banner Library" - basically a compilation of iconography for most major races including any submissions of handpainted stuff. Somewhere you can go to look at company banners, personal heraldry etc to either print out or use as the basis of your own. Many such banners have appeared previously in numerous GW references but can be hard to track down the exact one you want, when you want- especially some of the more obscure ones.
This has a lot of merit and I am volunteering to be the POC for such a project. ?After its setup, I'll have a URL where it can be d/l when I am away so it is still accessible.
The biggest issue is obviously copyright issues, but many of them have disclaimers like "permission to photocopy/reproduce" on them and after all we are using them for GW modelling purposes.
If you are interested let me know and we'll get this off the ground. ?Any and all submissions and thoughts would be welcomed.
Tas

Hi!
Thats a good idea, although I agree copyright issue maybe the sticking point. But perhaps it can be done without to much reactive from GW.

I'll see what I can dig up. I know I have some for at least a couple of Marine chapters, Commisar Yarrick, Ghazghkull etc. We really should have the legal issue clarified first though.
Cheers!

Lets go with a mutli-pronged attack!
I will contact GW and clarify whats good and whats not.
In the meantime if you can gather your Icons, banners are the like and email them to me at my address below I'll start the compilation process, which could be quite long...
As a format, I'm initially intending to bundle everything from each major race into sereparte zip files. When you want one, you just d/l the bundle you want.
Right, go check your HDDs and I will get in touch with GW

And the electronic silence was deafening...
OK can I start the ball rolling by asking for Chaos type banners? I'm after Chaos Undivided in particular for my Word Bearers but will take any and all Choas to start the library off.

Hi Tas et al, I'll make yer an offer ye can't refuse.....
I gotta the scanner. I gotta ?lots of games workshop books. I make the one plus and added to the other, and you getsa th' banner and cheers.
Ok, I'll scan - but if anyone has specific images he/she/it has in mind and has a reference, please forward them, to save a bit of time. And I DON'T have everything. But I'll try. Now: where do I post them without having GW thugs hammering at my door for infringement of thingies? Which I'm not doing, as these are for personal use on GW models, but.... ?

You're right Vanvlak - how can I refuse such generosity?
We'll load them up on my ISP webspace (no website, just files) so they are less likely to be sprung. I'll PM you with the details later...
Once we know what you have, we can add and build to it.
You are the man!!!

Hi Mojarn et al, I'll be mailing a catalogue later on - heck, no, do it now, save time later! In brief: all 40kCodexes except for the new space marine codex all Epic rulebooks since Space Marine 2nd ed. (but no magazines and journals). Loads of Warhamer stuff (i.e. several rulebooks, some running to three editions, for Chaos, High Elves, Dark Elves, the Empire, Dwarfs, Orcs and other useful and less so stuff) which could be useful for Chaos, Eldar etc. Loads of White Dwarfs - but research in these cannot be guaranteed before 22/11/2004 ( ) Cheers. PS - PMed back, M.
