GW is not all evil though. I have a great customer service tale of them....

I'd almost finished my Space Marine Battlebarge for BFG to find I was missing a single side bit.  Quite peeved, I packed the whole thing up and went down to the store to plead my case.  The manager took a look, complimented my paint job and when I asked for a replacemnt part, gave me a brand newbie off the shlef and apologised for the inconvenience.  You cant get better than that!

The new bit of course went onto the almost finishe dmodel.  The Battlebarge with a few bits missing is now 50% of the way through its conversion to a Chaos Space Marine Battlebarge, and it look AWESOME (sorry no pics yet)

Hope that story fills you with some hope

This is fantastic news. pg - not just because of cost (I think that most people here are crazy enough to buy minis before food!). For me there are two reasons that I want plastics. Fiststly, they are easier to work with. If I want to chop and convert a figure, then plastic is so much easier to do it with. Also, plastics mean individual figures, not bases. While basing figures can be a chore, it is not exactly tough and I like to be able to put my heavy weapon in different places on each stand, to make them look a little different.

While I applaud Jervis and Fanatic for this move, and publicly thank them, I can help being left with a bitter taste in my mouth. If this was the first time that GW had declared something 'limited' only to change their mind after the rush for sales, it would be different....

Anyway, horray for plastics! It was not like I was going to complain about having too much Epic stuff after buying the sprues anyway, and now I have loads of different stuff. Does anyone know whether the EpicA sprues will be similar to the previous version (for example the 'grunt half only') or a complete new remodel to make them Steel Legions?

Seeing as the comment was that they've made alterations to the sprues rather than running to the cost of having entirely new ones made, I'd guess they've stuck with the valhalans and Jungle fighters. I'd expect them to release other regiments as metal additions much like the 40K range.

Here you go: One response from the big J himself.

It will be similar to the last sprue - we can afford to modify the sprues,
not make any new models.

Best regards,

Jervis Johnson

Jimbo - the enthusiasm of red-jumper staff in UK stores is a constant source of amusement for me. I tend to go to a variety of stores in the South, and the general attitude is fairly similar. I am often approached as I get in the door and asked what armies I collect and what I want to buy next.

It is often a good idea to say that you are looking for an Epic second edition metal Marine dreadnought or similar, just to see their expression. Also mention that your friends bet that you couldnt find it in a GW store, and you defended the store.  :D  One of the best stores, where this happens the least, is actually the Oxford St store.

The Mail Order and returns policy is one of the best that I have seen, and is the highlight of the company. Still, as an old timer I remember that you used to get a LOAD of free stuff when you mail ordered! If you bought a couple of igures, they would throw in the rest of the castings from the batch as well!

Hehe, I'm feeling very lucky to be living in the UK now  .....My local store is great- the staff are usually really helpful; I asked if they had any Epic stuff at all and the manager went out the back, and hunted out a some Firepowers and a load of Epic Mags- and then gave me them at a discount of nearly ?5!! GW generosity- not something you see all that often :;): ...tho Tas's story is the most surprising- A free Battlebarge- nice!! :D

though I wish they would get it right

every order I have ever ordered from them in the last five years has been wrong

in my last they sent me a small flying base rather than a large one

though to be honest they did (in the past) correct the orders

Still, as an old timer I remember that you used to get a LOAD of free stuff when you mail ordered! If you bought a couple of igures, they would throw in the rest of the castings from the batch as well!

oh I remember that, that was always nice

That's the good thing about G/W US :unclesam:, if they have the mold, they will spin it up, so far.  If they send the wrong part just call and they send the right one.  Eventually, who knows if this will change, the molds will become unusable ?  And worldwide Tas, we both know, there is always more Kittys :D !   G/W minis & Kittys, both commodities in demand !!!

Don't get me wrong, I buy and have bought directly from G/W US, mostly by phone, almost everything Epic, that they have produced for the past 12 years. ?And the same goes for F/W, (by e-mail), since they started producing Epic. ?I have only bought Epic, from other gamers on line, 2 or 3 times (Signius being the most recent). ?So my support of Jervis and the boyz has been is the form of large VISA bills ? :D ! ?But like Cybershadow, this is a bit disturbing as well as being Great news, especailly for "newbies" !!! ?I collect all armies too (6 SM Regts,6 IG Regts, 30 Ork warbands, to mention a few) :) . ?So that's a lot stuff. ?So I'm not saying I earned the right to be a little skeptical, =][= Alanius & Tom (I like using the =][= symbol!), but as I have said before, when I have it in my wanton hands, then I'll know for sure ! :D ? So this is great news ! ? Save your $ boyz, E-A is getting closer by the day ! ?

Just wondering about the new sprues- if they will just be mods of the old Epic40k ones, does this mean that we will have the Valhallan models being used as the Steel Legion- like Carl Woodrow's from Dropship- not that this is bad, as they look fine....

I'm thinking that this might mean that the sprues will be the same (very reasonable) price of ?1.50... Heres hoping they don't get a hike when Epic A comes out...... :L

No kidding. ?I actually don't mind when they screw up my order as I normally get away with an extra mini or so. ?They have been better lately, but my favorite shipment of all time was when I ordered a bunch of stuff including 3 Tyranid sprues for epic. ?They didn't arrive in the shipment, and when I called about that, they said they would send them out. ?The next day I got them as they were shipped late, but that didn't stop them from sending me 3 more. ?THEN about two weeks later I got 3 more, HOW I DON'T KNOW. ?THEN about three weeks after that I got a box of about 100 sprues of Epic bases. ?Keep in mind with each Tyranid shipment I received the right amount of bases already. ?I didn't know what to do with all the extras so I stuck them on ebay. ?To be honest, I may have gotten more items from the original shipment later, but I can't remember which ones. ?I assumed they had a glitch in their ordering system. ?I just couldn't believe it. It was actually funny as hell. I got a kick ass deal!

By this time I knew I wasn't going to get rid of him been polite and was tempted to walk out, so

Me: I'm not going to get rid of you am I!

There's a guy like that at a hobby store near me, and everytime he has to tell me all about the armies he plays and how great GW is for 20min. The guy is nice, but a freakin dork and exactly the kind of guy I try to avoid. ?He's done his song and dance for me about six times and doesn't seem to realize that I have heard everything already. ?I am almost afraid to walk down the GW section, fearing he's going to pop out from behind a display. ?Next time I am just going to have to threaten his life.

Hey Tas, I feel bad for about GW OZ. ?That really sucks. ?They sound like a bunch of assh@les. ?If it were me, I wouldn't spend my money on them, even if it meant going elsewhere. ?I have shipped stuff to buyers on ebay to Oz, and shipping wasn't that bad. ?It is actually worse to Europe. . . from Florida that is. . .

BTW, for those who haven't played Urban Terror online yet, do so. ?I am addicted. Much more rewarding right now than Epic.

Peace out muth@f#ckas!

Well, as long as they don't change the Chaos sprue, as that has to be the best one ever made.  To be honest, the only one I think that would need to be changed is the IG sprue.  I don't mind the extras. . . The Eldar, Space Marine, Ork, and Tyranids are great.  If there was anything I was really impressed with for Epic40k, it was the plastics. . .

Hi!

:D I know what you mean Jimbo, I have had similar exchanges, although I have learned to just tell them up front that I play epic and nothing else and they leave me alone afterwards.
