This is the second Army I took pics of today. ?It took me 4 hours (!) to set them both up and pack them away again...but what a great time I had with all day to myself...
Anyhow, this is my Imperial Guard Force which I started collecting relatively recently when I started playing about with Ver1.0 of the EA Playtest rules. ?I hadn't played much Epic for about 8 or 9 years (I was at sea the whole time, and that kinda restricts things, plus I got married, had 2 kids etc) but got myself excited about EA and promised myself a enw Army to play it with. ?And I've always been a die hard Imperial guy ?
This Army started out as a mainly mechanised one but has expanded to a pretty well balanced force which can field most tactical options I need. ?It has the "lots of grunts" Guard feel, backed up with some serious armour and supporting firepower to really make the God-Emperor's enemies wish they had put on the brown underpants this morning!
All up, I can field a valid 22k size force under EA Rules, or its 25k as a gross total.
Anyhow - to the Pics!
The glorious of the Imperial Guard enmass! The Army-1 Obviously, the Titan legions are along the back, mech Inf and Arty on the left, Russ Companies and Superheavies in the centre, Aerial support on the far right.
And again from a diferrent angle The Army-2 I use the old Assault jump troops as Stormtroopers (with the thrid company of the Stormtrooper Brigade still on the sprues and the Valkyries are on the 'yet to get' list), the old bike company (love those guys) I use as RRiders
Just what I want in an Guard Army- an unbroken line of the Emperor's Iron Men backed up by Forge-World Steel! Steel Legions
More to follow...

Now a IG Army needs lots of Grunts - I have 2 Mech Inf Companies, 4 'Leg' Infantry Companies and an Infantry Company that can ride a Hellbore when it feels like it.
Sadly my camera doesnt do great closeup detail, but these should help you get the idea anyway:
1st Mechanised Infantry Company: 1stMechInf This is a Standard Steel Legion Company, with a Command Unit, a Commissar with a Fire Support platoon, Ogryns and a Griffon battery in support.
2nd Mechanised Infantry Company: 2ndMechInf Again a standard Steel Legion Company, with a Command Unit, a Commissar, with an additional Infantry Platoon attached and a Hydra AA vehicle and a Gorgon unit in support.
The Emperor's Finest Grunts One of the infantry companies (in Cadian livery)- with an additional Infantry platoon and a Fire support upgrade there are lots of lasrifles pointing downrange!

To the Armoured Fist of His Wrath:
I have 2 Russ Companies- 1 painted, 1 not. This is the painted one, though the HQ Tank (an old flag waving Russ) is still a WIP. This pic is a bit smudgy- sorry Russ Company
1 have 4 Superheavy squadrons - 1 of each type. The Baneblades you've seen before in their ww2 Ambush paint scheme: Baneblades
These StormHammers have been kicking around for ages waiting for stripping. I finally just gave them some love and attention over the existing Blue to tactical them up a bit: StormHammers
The other 2 Sqns are being stripped now - their horrid paint schemes could not be salvaged...

One of the Real strengths of any IG Force is its Artillery
As Stalin said: "Artillery is the God of War". ?As an ex-Artilelry officer, I kinda agree with him ?
Anyhow, my artillery is organised into a single company - but its heavily reinforced. ?It starts with 9 Basilisks (3 new, 6 old minis), with a trio of Manticores and Bombards attached. ?that makes for a serious amount of barrage template when it drops in and makes His enemies think twice about their Heresy!
Artillery 1
Artillery 2
For the third upgrade for the company I either choose between a Hydra AA vehicle for local AA defence (An arty company is a juicy target right?) or a pair of Deathstrikes for some Titan Slaying goodness!
AA & Deathstrikes
(PS Is it just me or do these deathstrike minis look REALLY like the FROG-7s the Soviets used to field in the 70s and early 80s?)

My Tunnelers can either ride the hellbore, scoot in on the termites or if all else fails - walk! Its a standard Inf Compnay (in this case Catachans) with Snipers and a Support Weapon Upgrades
Tunnel Company
Of note, my 'proper' hellbore is in bitz and this is the 'emerging from ground' one. Not sure who made it, but its a resin minia and not a GW one. Given that, I think its pretty cool!
Hellbore
My Capital Imperialis is also in bits and was not available for show today-sorry.

Finally, the IG love the support of the Titan Legions
In this case the force is blessed with having no less than 6 Ordinati (6? - what was I thinking?....when the heck will I need 6 Ordinati???) Ordinati
And of course the Titan legions. ?Some you saw in last year's painting comp. ?The rest? ?Well, lets just leave it at lots of work needed here Titans In total there is 5 Warlords (4 Mk1 beetlebacks, 1 Mk3), 5 Reavers and 7 Warhounds for a total of 9k points of brutal Mechanicus Vengeance. ?Some may switch allegiances to the Dark Side when I start my Chaos force...
Naval Support is not shown today. ?The Marauders and Lightnings are barely basecoated and not ready and everyone has seen BFG ships before anyway.
So thats it! ?Its literally taken me all day to display, take phots, chop them down and post them. ?I've enjoyed doing it and hope you like them! ?If you want any specific photos of anything let me know.
Cheers and best wishes to All Tas

Wow - another great army! With tunnellers - and Tas, you can look at the Ordinati in two ways: 1 - you can never have enough of these monsters - they're Ad Mech, they must be good. OR 2 - you're right - send 5 of the 6 to me.

Quote (Tas @ 12 2004 Oct.,04:09) | I use the old Assault jump troops as Stormtroopers, the old bike company (love those guys) I use as RRiders | I too use the bikes as RRiders.
In the EA "use as" list they put the assault guard down as RRiders as well. Odd.
I agree with you, they make better Stormtroopers. I use them that way as well.

Oh and any time you feel the need to trim down, I know a home for wayword minis you can send them too.

Thanks for the comments guys! ?There is a lot of sweat in those guys - as you all well know - ?and it was a blast to finally get them all out together. ?Its taken about 2 years to paint all that up (with me going to sea and all)
Fear not comrades - no Hellbores were harmed in the making of this Army!
Its cast in resin. ?I think I may have got it from Signius actually but cant confirm that. ?Its a pretty good replication of the Hellbore (complete with crest detail).
If I had a way of replicating it, I'd gladly make you one. ?Maybe you'd like to borrow it for awhile? ?Think I might keep hold of those Titans though ?
WMN- Yes the rows and rows of chaps can be a strain. ?I take them little by little, 1 company at a time. ? But its the basing that really gets me down..a Lot!
Vanvlak - I might be interested in parting with a couple of Ordinatus to boost my Chaos or Nid force...
