Hi Everyone,
---
I bought a new Reaper pack yesterday:
Reaper Legends Pack 2844 - Acid Beetles (2)
Which will go nicely with the other Reaper purchase I made for my Epic Nidarmy:
Reaper Legends Pack 2517 - Hooked Terror
---
The Acid Beetles are cool. They'll look good with my Nid army and yes, I know, to get photos ASAP.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

I've also found a large number of models good for proxies for Epic Tyranids including:
- WOTC D&D Grick (Carnifexes or other large Bio-tanks)
- Reaper Hooked Horror (A Bio-titan of some sort...)
They look great as Nidz when painted like the rest of my force.
-----------------------------
I also like a large number of old 28mm GW 40k pieces such as:
- The original Biovore... (Expectorator AKA large Biovore...)
- The original Ripper Swarms... (Raveners or bio-tanks...)
- Plastic Ripper swarms... (Raveners...)
- And others...
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

I'm using some of the old Space Fleet 'Nids for M/Spores. And some for Harridans, too. I'm also gluing the S/Fleet drones on some models to make bio-tanks. I use both S/Fleet and 40K Spore Mines as Epic terrain bitz !

Hi!
I just use the Hive War supplement counters for the spores, since I haven't found any suitable minis.

The Nids are amongst us! Well, admittedly, they're only 13cm long, and they live in ocean depths of around 1000m off California. Anyone ever heard of Vampyroteuthis infernalis? Even the name is promising! I've just seen a documentary on it, and the way it can change shape is amazing - it can fold its hood all round its body and switch on a pair of luminous organs at its rear which resemble eyes. When a predator approaches, it constricts covers ober these organs so that the eyes appear to get smaller - or to be moving away! - confusing the predator. Another trick is to release a mass of phosphorescent particles when it flees, to confuse predators - now if that isn't the old WWII 'Window' trick for confusing radar.....
Here he is: Vampyroteuthis infernalis
Not a spore - unless you could see him with his mantle folded over (!) - but inspiring.

EPIC SYNAPSE NODE
Hi all, here's my very first Epic Tyranid conversion attempt - a very simple Synapse node (a pair, actually).

EPIC SYNAPSE NODES
The bits used are large round WH40K bases; the bases of 2 of the trees from the 40K jungle tree sprues set; and 3 of the smallest ring-shaped bits of trunk connectors from the same sprues. The latter fit nicely in the top 'crater' of the former; the tree bases are glued to the model bases. Paint was a simple French (or UM) blue coat, with drybrushing to taste, heavy chestnut wash, and further slight drybrushing. The ring of rubble around the nodes was PVA-glued pepper; the static grass was added in a second round of PVA. Matt varnish spray all round, and they're done.
Note to self - the tree bases make good island volcanoes for Man O'War!

I very much like how they turned out.
One of the gifts some people have is the ability to see something else when looking at bits. I mean, I have those in my bits box and did not even think of it.

Very Nice, BUGZ ! And yes "Window" or chaff is metal strips dropped from an aircraft to mess up the Radar ...
