Hiya folks. In this issue of the Forge World newsletter we have release information and rules for quite a few new 40K models. Also with the largest Games Day in the world less than a month away all of us at Forge World are working hard to help make sure your day is a memorable one.
First of all we just have to take a look at some of these new models. Tau reinforcements are going to be quite prevalent over the next number of months as we continue to work on ?Imperial Armour Volume 3 ? The Taros Campaign? http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/tetra.htm This is the Tau Tetra, a small reconnaissance vehicle used by Pathfinders to scout out enemy formations and positions. The Tetra is, in my opinion anyway, one of the most dynamic pieces of design work that Forge World has produced. Daren Parrwood?s concept sketches aroused my interest in this little vehicle, but as the Tetra started to take shape down on his workbench, I couldn?t help visiting it about twice a day to see how it came along. It is one of those shapes if you know what I mean. Just one look and you know that it is a Tau vehicle, it just fits.
Not too long after finishing the Tetra, Daren started work on another Tau light vehicle, the Piranha. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/piranha.htm The Piranha can offer service as a light support vehicle for Fire Warriors or even as an ad-hoc recon unit. The Piranha kit includes parts for you to arm it with either a Burst Cannon or a Fusion Blaster in the chin turret, allowing it to be used in a variety of roles on the battlefield.
The Tau Hammerhead has been one of my favourite plastic model kits since I first saw it, many months before it?s release, lurking in the deepest, darkest depths of the GW Design Studio. So when I found out that we were going to make a series of new turrets for the Hammerhead I couldn?t wait to see what we came up with. I think Burst Cannon are one of the most characterful Tau weapon systems, (I just like Gatling guns!) and a Tau Hammerhead armed with two ginormous Burst Cannon comes pretty close to my idea of a perfect 40K model. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/hammerhburst.htm Three more Tau Hammerhead turrets followed quickly. Now you will be able to arm your Hammerheads with Fusion Cannon, Plasma Rifles and Missile Pods too. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/hammerhfusion.htm http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/hammerhplasma.htm http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/hammerhmissile.htm
Now seeing as we are going to be including all of these new Tau models in ?Imperial Armour Volume 3 ? The Taros Campaign? Warwick has made some experimental rules for all four of the Hammerhead turrets, Piranha and Tetra. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/downloads40k.htm Any feedback you might have would be gratefully received and you can email that directly to us at imperialarmour@games-workshop.co.uk You may also notice on that downloads page that we have also sneaked in some new experimental rules for the two Sentinels we released a few weeks ago. Enjoy!
Next up today we have two new Tyranid Hive Tyrants. I think that we first showed these a good few weeks ago and I know we have had a few of both of these available as pre-release models at some of the shows Forge World has been at recently. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/hivetyrant2.htm http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/hivetyrant1.htm I am happy to say that these achingly detailed creations from the desk of Simon Egan are now ready and available to pre-order!
Time for a few bits on Games Day UK. Forge World will be at Games Day UK with our biggest ever selection of models, designers and modelmakers, painted display pieces and much, much more besides. We will start taking reservations for Games Day UK later next week as we have a cunning new idea to make this easier and faster than ever for you. Watch out for next week?s newsletter. Forge World are of course going to be presenting the Forge World Best of Show trophy again this year. This is a special award for the best entry in the 40K Vehicle or Warhammer Monster categories of the Golden Demon competition as judged by us at Forge World. Take a look at some of the previous winners of this really quite rare award here, http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/shows.htm
If you are going to Games Day UK, the next bit is very important and so deserves a wholly separate paragraph. Tony Cottrell will be hosting the hugely popular Forge World Seminar at Games Day UK once again this year. Tickets for the seminar are free of any charge and quite simple to obtain. (Please note you must already have a Games Day ticket!) Send me an email to forgeworld@games-workshop.co.uk titled ?Gimmee a seminar ticket, pleaassseee!? including in the email your name and postal address. Ticket numbers are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis so you will have to be quick! We shall confirm by email if you have been allocated a ticket and post them out to you straight away.
That?s all for today folks. Speak to you all next week. Thx,
Ewen Little. Forge World.
