Hi!

I've been away for some time from both game and forum, and the last time I checked on GW online store there was a model for a "daemon ship"...

Would you guys be so kind to explain me how does it works?
(I've read somewhere that it worked as an upgrade for cruisers but havent been able to get my hands on the rules yet...)

Check the specialist games website to see if the rles are still there.

Basically it is a chaos pseudo-submarine/pseudo-poo vessel.

It does not start on the table as usual. You nominate a point 15 cm away from a capitalship (yours or your opponent's) and you place the mode there in a "transition mode". It cannot affect anything on the table or be affected by anything on the table himself while in this situation. Its only rule in this case is that it causes a -1 leadership to all enemy vessels around him in 15 cm or so.

While in this state it CANNOT MOVE: this is the poo thing. At the end of your turn, in the ordi phase you check if it fully materializes. If it does from that point onwards is a normal vessel. Can't remember if you still cause the -1 leadership to the enemy or not when fully materialized.

At the start of any of your tirns you can decide to make him "phase out" again, so that he returns to etheral mode (to the warp). Then it can return back and depending on how your roll in a nifty table and how many turns it spend on the warp he can get repaired hit points and the like. If you do this even once it counts that you have disengaged it for VP, even if he returned to the table later in the game.

The upgrade is expensive, BFG games are not long enough to making the engage7disengage thing worthy and it being unable to move while etheral turns it into a sitting duck waiting to be at least rammed when he appears since the enemy will have had plenty of time to position itself or flee the area so it is badly situated for any further action when it appears.

poo explanation, but you get the basic layout of the rules and my impression over them. At first I thought it could move while etheral, but once you see it can't....

Still, makes for a nice model if you convert it well  :D

Regards,

Xavi

Thanks for the quick reply Xavi!

In fact it were the possibilities of "convertion" that caught my attention to this "daemonic ship"...
Its a pity the rules arent that great...

Cheers

I don't particularly favour the GW conversion kit. It is nice (I have one of those) as a base, but if you want a really disgusting ship, work yourself's up with epoxy puty (green stuff). It is certainly FUN and even mistakes can be said to be integral part of the design  :D  :D  I made one of those using an imperial cruiser hull and it looks great. The bad thoing is that it got blown really fast in the first game it took part in and was left behind in the second.

Oh, if you ant to be really disgusting, puting huge sexual elements in a slaanesh cruiser is the way to go. Tom (the other chaos player around) did that with a slaighter and most ships are really scared of him. Disgusting if you are a purist, but good for a laugh if you are not ;)

In any case we found that those are great to experiment with epoxy putty and they look nice whatever you do with them

Regards,

Xavi

There is not too much to add to what has already been said. I am a little disappointed with the rules and the mini. I played with specific Daemon Barge rules a while ago, in five types to cater for all Chaos persuasions. I dont like the mini, and the rules are OK but only for a bit of diversion. I will probably have two Slaanesh Daemon Slaughter Cruisers in my fleet one day (most Daemon ships are Slaanesh Slaughters), but I will convert my own vessels for them. Interestingly, the rules changed a little in Armada, and now the mark of Slaanesh can be used even while the vessel is non-physical.

Perhaps we should have a mini competition for the best converted Daemon vessel?  :;):

Funny you mentioned it Xavi, my plans for the daemon cruiser mini convertion were exactly to use an imperial cruiser sprue I have "extra".

That mini competition would be a lot of fun for shure!
Like my Blood Bowl mates would say "go for it"!!!

At the moment, I am putting this to the guys involved with Warp Rift, to run it as a mini competition, and get together a small prize for the best. I will keep you updated...

Cool idea :) I guess Brozza (spelling?) wins hands down there, though ;) Anyone that has seen the cover of the first arp rift cover should agree here. unless there are some amazing pieces hiden somewhere in ambush :)

Xavi

Thats a great ship he's got there!
But anyway, even if one's modeling/painting skills arent that great, its always a great oportunity to show and see different stuff, and sometimes get new ideas for ourselves!
