As the rules stand you may only enter a miniature once.

This means that a miniature entered in the single unit category may not be also entered as part of the Battleforce category. There are no exceptions.

The problem starts with the allowing of one exception then someone will else will ask for their issue to be allowed an exception.

The rules stand as is.

Jimbo one more clarification: If I submit a pic of a miniature can I also host another pic on my own website?  ...and can I host other pics of that miniature (as long as I don't link to them) Work in progress pics, painting guides etc..

Finally: Should I be able to take a better pic of my miniature while the competition is running is it then permitted to edit the post and change the pic?

Again I assume that the answer is "no" to both questions but for the sake of clarification:)

Cheers!:)

Yes you can post other pictures of your model (such as work in progress and painting guides) to your own website. However if you put such a link on your entry then the link will be deleted. If you continue to post links (elsewhere in the forums) then your entry will be disqualified.

Finally: Should I be able to take a better pic of my miniature while the competition is running is it then permitted to edit the post and change the pic?

No that would not be fair.

As it happens I am taking the pics off the forums anyhow, so even if you did this (and I didn't notice) your original entry would be the one that would be on the webpage from which it would be judged.

Another quick question- Say I enter a titan from my Eldar army, could I post the same picture to my Eldar army diary?
I presume this would be okay but thought I'd check... :)

Once you have submitted the picture you may do with it what you wish, but if you attempt to persuade the voting by linking to a website containing other pictures of your model then you will be disqualified.

The main thrust of the competition is fairness, with one picture per entry. So those entrants who do not have large amounts of webspace can still have a fair chance.

Hmmm... does this mean I can't add, say 3 posts for my entry to the relevant competition thread, with pictures of the back/front/banner details say...?

Or would I have to stick them together with my image editor into one file?  ???

From the rules

Take a digital picture of your entry...Digital images should be in JPG format, be no larger than 600 x400 pixels and no larger than 75Kb in size... Remember only one picture per entry.

Go to the Competition Thread and open up the post for the category ?you wish to enter. Reply to that post with your details, a brief details of the mini and add your picture as an attachment. Please create a new post for each entry. Only one picture per entry. No links to other pictures are allowed. Please also avoid having one picture with multiple shots on, you may be asked to re-submit the photograph.

Therefore please only take one shot, do not stitch multiple images together into one image as this breaks the spirit of the rules of the competition.

I do appreciate people may want to show off the front, back, etc... however we are basing this on a one picture per entry rule and stitched together pictures breaks the spirit of this rule.

As organiser I reserve the right to ask you to re-submit the entry.

The rules stand as is and are not open to negotiation.

Ahem.. okay, guess I should have read the rules a little more closely...

Why has this change been made from last year btw? -Just to make things more simple?

not just simple but also to make things fairer for all entrants

it should make it easier for everyone to judge and vote as well, as they will be comparing like with like

Hmm... kinda see the reasons for this here- sure, it makes it easier to judge entries, although how does it make it fairer?- surely everyone entering is able to take more than one photo?
-ps... please don't take this as a criticism Jimbo, I'm just interested in the thinking behind the decision.. :;):

[EDIT] ah.. just looking at the first couple of entries, I'm beginning to appreciate that this will make things a lot easier and 'neater' ...although it would be nice to have a detail of any banners on the picture imho...

after the competition you can post as many pictures as you like...

all please take note

this is a competition, it has rules, you abide by the rules or you don't enter

if you don't like the rules that's okay, but this is a painting competition, no one is forced to enter.

Last year we had a bundle of entries, by restricting everyone to just one photograph it will make judging easier, an excellently painted miniature should be able to win with just one picture, yes it would be nice to see more detail, but the entry should be able to stand alone.

The other thinking is that this is a not a detail competition, in other words it is not about whether you can paint the eyebrows on a epic miniature (though I know Tuff paints the individual hairs); it is whether you can paint a whole miniature well and it looks good as an epic miniature. This is why it is fair to only allow one picture per entry.

After the event feel free to post more pictures.

My entry won the Open Category last year

and I only suppplied one picture!!

More pictures became available on my website after the competition.

PLEASE SEE THE SMILES

:) :)
