Had a lady minute request from Chris and Alun as to whether they can enter. Steve do we have space/are we able to accommodate (they're totally fine if not possible)?

Yes that's fine Steve, I'll juggle the draw slightly.

Steve, no need to juggle they could just play each other in game 1. Alun has barely played at clwc in the last 3 years, likewise Chris so need to avoid that match up on club grounds. I'll let them know.

Great day as always!

I went very trepidatious with steel legion, who i have only had disastrous results with in the past. Therefore pulling Steve G's codex marines in the 1st was a trial by fire. I played very cagey and after 5 rounds we'd pummelled each other to a stalemate, which i took as a great result! :-D Thanks Steve!

Andy's iron warriors in round 2 was a epic ground pound for both sides, but unfortunately little by little the guard fell onto the reactionary back foot and couldn't regain momentum - getting overwhelmed by ignore cover shots for a 0:2 in 3rd. Great learning experience and great opponent.

In the 3rd i met Darren's yellow ork tide once again. Sloppy deployment threw away my stormtroopers before they could make a mess of some LV hoards and from their i was cadged in waiting for the inevitable. In my frustration i made a few indecisive actions and it left Darren able to pick apart my formations meticulously for a 0:4 drubbing. Next time Reeks, next time... :-)

Thanks again to Steve for organising, Horratio for prize support and thanks to everyone who voted me best painted ! Very unexpected! Hopefully see everyone at the GT.

Agreed it was another great day. As usual, my dice were poor to bad throughout the day.

Against Horatio's Guard, my Biel Tan managed to chip away at the enemy formations as they cautiously advanced, screening one mechanised company before assaulting the other (killing the SC in the process), and finally breaking the tank company. Despite 37 "1"s and only 46% of dice being 4+, the game ended 2-0 in my favour.

Flushed with this success the Biel Tan faced Dan's Thousand Sons; Eight Fearless, RA, shooty Daemon summoning formations covered by two flights of A/c. I tried to keep the hordes at bay breaking one set of Decimators to reduce the AA cover, only to have the Vampire assault shot down by his CAP - and the game went downhill from there ending with a total massacre of the Eldar and 5-0 to Dan. At 48% 4+, my dice were the best of the day, though my strategy and tactics were not.

The game against Mark H was a civil war between similar Biel Tann armies, except I had two Vampire mounted Warp Spider formations facing off against a Warlock. Attacking the Falcon formation on the opposite flank dragged away the Falcons protecting the Warlock, which I then attempted to destroy with the air assaults. Sadly my dice let me down, and despite ultimately killing the beast, I lost 3-1. 33 "1"s to 23 "6"s and only 46% 4+ didn't help, though the key critical throws against the Titan were significantly worse :{[]

Many thanks to Horatio, Dan and Mark H for three interesting and well fought games, even if they were a bit exhausting, and especially for putting up with my tracking the dice results.

Agree - a fantastic event. Thanks to Steve G for organising.

I had 3 very different and very entertaining games.

First up was Michael's Orks featuring a first for me, going up against a Great Gargant (a brilliant custom built model). Essentially I had nothing in my list which could take this monster down so I did my best to avoid it and sought to knock out all of the support units. I managed to sneakily break the gargant after in intermingled with a blitz brigade - felt right pleased with myself until it doubled forwards and promptly rallied. However, the orks couldn't hold off my air assaults and in the end it was 2-0 to the Eldar (the gargant was obviously totally unscathed).

Second up was Richard with his unstoppable necrons. I'd run them close with my squats last time we met. This was another tight game (though more with me hanging on than Richard seriously in trouble). While my apsects managed to delete 2 monolith formations with some good dice they took too much damage in the process and more than 30 shots from Grav tanks, storm serpent and void spinner didn't knock out a single monolith meaning Richard had the mobility to close the game out on turn 3. 2-0 to Necrons - Next time Richard!!

Third was Horatio with steel legion. This was a very cagey game with Horatio sensibly reluctant to race forward and get picked off by my eldar. The first couple of turns were basically us trading chaff. I managed to keep Horatio on the back foot with mech and tank cos fending off an assault on the blitz by my guardians with wraithguard and wraithlords. In the end game came down to my fully loaded vampire surviving (just) CAP from a t-bolt formation to air assault and destroy a warhound giving me a 3-0 win.

Overall a really enjoyable day with 3 very different and very interesting games with fab opponents. I was delighted to finish 3rd, especially after Richard taking me down in game 2!

Good stuff

I seem to always find that with 4+ RA. Drop a ton of shooting and macro on them and nothing. plink them with couple of 7+ to hit and they die more often than not

any pics taken?
