Hi!
Yup, so do I. DSII appeals to my "real troops do this" and epic appeals to my "this is insane but I'll do it anyway".
When Heresy was created created I tried to go half-and-half, but I think it tends more to the realistic DSII than the sci-fantasy epic in game terms.
I guess no game can capture both, its best for one game to excel at one type and another game for the other type.

Speaking of The Days of Empire, has anybody actually tried the rules? The Notice that beta-test rules are no longer given out has been there for years. I have always been a fan of big armored vehicles, so I would be very interested in getting the rules.

The owner stopped distributing the Days of Empire ruleset because noone sent him back feedback. I got one of the last sets and I offered to pay for mine.
The writer also quit leaving him in the lurch...
If anyone ever wrote a set of rules for him, he'd love it.
The minis are great if a little bit crude. I have the civilian vehicles and several of the helicopters. I love his Chinese PRC models as well: very well done.
The Days of Empire ruleset uses a ton of charts and some twisted humor. I'm not overly impressed with it. It's a good idea with poor carrythrough.
By the way, Reviresco is a great company and worth buying from. I've had great experiences buying from them and the wonder is a true gentleman.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

We use some of DSII in our "hybrid" rule system, if we had to choose another set of rules, DSII would probably be it ... with some modifications . To sort of paraphase Primarch, we took what real troops would do and "melded" it with Epic's Sci-Fi/Fantasy rules. Nazi's & Commies or Orks & Bugs, it's all good ...

I liked the "landships" from the "The Days of Empire" website, but it seemed like so much money for something I could not use in any real game I was playing.
This one was the one I liked: http://www.tin-soldier.com/ogum1.gif
but at $96.80 and no real use planned it was not something I would buy.
Did anyone buy one of them? What did you think?

Dafrca,
I have a friend who bought one of the Days of Empire Landships and it's an awesome model, but I haven't bought one for the same reasons as you, too expensive. If you see it though, you'll understand the cost: it takes on huge chunk of lead to cast one.
Most people use resin these days to lower the cost.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Quote (MaksimSmelchak @ 20 2003 April,10:29) | If you see it though, you'll understand the cost: it takes on huge chunk of lead to cast one. | I wondered how big it was for sure. The sad thing is he does not list the size measurements on the web site. Do you think you could get your friend to take a shot of it next to some things to see the real size?
I wonder what the cost would be in resin? He should go that way for the larger models.
I have many times looked at the Landship and wished. However, at almost $100 I would need to be using it games to try and justify the cost. Even then it would be hard to do.
