Hey guys!

Just realized something very important. The schedule on the first page was set when we where expecting 6-8 teams to participate in the EEC. Now theres only 4 teams which makes the schedule a little weird. The way it stands now would mean that every team gets to meet 2 of the others twice and 1 of the others once.

So i have a question to all of you participating: How do we want to do this?

1. We let every team meet each other once and finish the EEC in 1 day. The Sunday can then be used for casual games, sightseeing or to let people return home earlier than planned. It would also let us go for a bigger party on the Saturday night... :-)

2. We play all 5 five games and just accept that we wont get to meet all the teams twice.

Personally i prefer option 1 beacuse a) it gives me a lighter workload just having to organize everything for 1 day and b) i don't really like the idea of only playing some of the other teams twice (it can skew the results a bit i think).

BUT, and this is important, i know that the all of you have palnned your trips already and i understand if you feel like you're being cheated out of "real" games if we cut the EEC short (but there would still be casual games on the Sunday) so I will of course do what the majority feels is the best option!

So what do you think gents? what should we do? Please give your opinions on this ASAP so i know what to plan for! Sorry for bringing this up so late, but it didn't occur to me until now.

As long as I get to do *something* that evening I am fine. I have one extra hotel night just cause my latest plane I could catch was around ~19:00.

Not hugely fussed, although if pressed for a choice between the two i'd personally prefer a 5 game event rather than 3. Talking of Sunday evening though, i'm keen on getting out as early as i can really, as i've got a flight at 10, so ideally need to be back to the airport by 8 if possible!

Talking of which, 3 hours per game seems quite generous for a 3k tournament - would it perhaps be worth looking at 2.5 hours per game so we can finish in a reasonable time on Saturday to go get dinner in the evening?

Oh, and i've just paid for the ticket as well.

My personal preference under the circumstances would be two 3-hour games saturday, plenty of time for dinner, and one game sunday, with room for friendly pick-up games after the ceremonies and lunch on sunday.

2 games on the Saturday and one on the Sunday sounds like the best option to me. However I would say that in general when I can get a weekend away to go gaming a minimum of 5 games is preferable (the more the better for me).

So arranging some other sort of games around those three Euro games would be nice, a small points tournament or something perhaps.

I also think 3 hours is a little long for 3000pts games and unless you are planning to arrange some sort of special lunch for everyone - I personally find that I can usually just grab something to eat in twenty minutes or so and an 1 hour 15 min looks long for lunch especially as with three hour round times many people will finish games and be waiting around anyway.

Well if we take the long route, why not at least four games? Like everybody plays each team once plus rematch with Swiss?

Some really good suggestions here! After some consideration we'bve decided to do it like this:

The EEC will played with 3 matches. 2 on the Saturday and 1 on the Sunday. There will however be time and space to play a couple casual games both on the Saturday night and the Sunday afternoon.

There will be a dinner organized for the participants on the Saturday night where we can get to know each other better and have som fun banter.

This seems like the fairest way of doing it.

I will update the schedule in the OP with this new info.

Welcome!

Well, to my personal experience in running four tourneys with that setup (evenings/whole days free to play) usually the people dont play. Even if everything else is supplied (tables set up etc)
To be frank, I am a bit bummed about this and in retrospect my first answer was not well thought throughly :/
The more I think about it, the more I would appreciate a 5 game tourney. Perhaps indiviual swiss and blocking team members? That way you have 10 potential enemies instead of three.
Winning team is highest total?

An alternative would be to use Matchmaker as we did at the first EEC.
http://brumbaer.de/Matchmaker/
(Once you started editing copy the complete URL of the document, because the data is saved under that URL)

MatchMaker will distribute players over armies and teams as evenly as possible.
It will also allow a fifth team, if you can field a second Swedish team.

Would be no Swiss though and games in a round would be against different teams, but the number of games team against any other team will be equal, every one will have 5 games as evenly distributed over other teams and fielding 5 teams will be possible.

Sorry to hear that you're dissappointed. I can however promise you there will be more games played, but casual ones. We have several players in my town that are not in the team that will gladly play more. I for one really want to play you guys to get a better understanding how the metas work in different countries.

To meet the other teams once is the fairest way of doing it.
This way we also give the guys that are in a little bit of a hurry to get to their flights on the sunday evening some slack so they don't have to be stressed about making their flights.

EIT:

Already had some of my local guys saying they will gladly play on the Sunday afternoon and evening! :)

I will be coming along for the sunday to check out and enjoy all the epicness. ;D
I would be glad to pick up a game after the final round if anyone is interested in meeting tau, DE or tyranids.

(A suggestion even though I'm not part of the official swedish team. I think four games can be fair as well.
You could play three games saturday like a fotball league. All teams meets each other ones and then finish with one game sunday for some true finals. Team one against two to decide gold and silver and 3 vs 4 battling for the bronze. This could of course also be two games each day.)
