Got to love GHQ such wonderful detail on such tiny models, must dig out my GHQ mountain for a dusting off.

Thanks guys. Yeah, GHQ sets a gold standard for their detail. This is just one highlight/one wash with speed of completion the primary driver. The model basically does all the work for you... imagine if one put effort into making them look good ;D

Those moderns look stunning, would love to do 6mm modern armour one day if i got enough hobby time.
I did look into doing a vietnam game and had the best 6mm hand sculpter do me some 6mm dobermans that are also the best 6mm dogs in the modeling world IMO ;D and that was as far as it went but i will get round to finishing it one day!

The arms buildup continues...

Helicopters are very hard (it turns out) to paint half-assed. The Soviet gunships and transports, while numerous, will stick out on the game board if they don't look right. And I haven't seen any soviet era ones that don't have a camouflage pattern. I also ordered spare brass rotors for these guys; the French helos looked so good with the brass that I couldn't go back to the old yellowed plastic discs. On the other hand, I wasn't going to scratch build any parts for the odd missing wheels or stabilizers. So, I gues I went "3/4 ass" on them. Enjoy.

First up, Mi-8 Hip transports:

Next, their gunship big brothers:

Perhaps my favorite because the greenhouse cockpit just looks so cool, the Mi-24 Hind-A:

And the still mighty cool Hind-D:

What's the "inevitable advance of world Marxism-Leninism/dictatorship of the proletariat" equivalent of "Ride of the Valkyries"? :P

Thanks for the comments guys.
We did another delaying action game, this time the Brits took their turn trying to hold back the red tide. We evened up the numbers of formations a bit, but the commies had more kit (3 companies tanks, 3 of BTR/infantry, and 1 BRDM 2/ATGW company split into two fm). I had two bridges over the river and the objective for the soviets was the town center. We kept the random activation system, and since I forgot to make up some units before game start, some random stats as well :P

The Brits held out, but would've lost badly in turn 5. The chieftain company took a lot of killing. I placed my mixed battlegroup of 4 challengers and infantry poorly, having to move them over dangerous terrain if I wanted to get them across the bridge. The BRDM2/ATs were the stars of the game, killing 45 vehicles over a couple of turns (maybe an exaggeration).

Top two statements of the game:
"You must do your socialist duty" (said before sending formations to their likely demise)
"Mighty poor tactics there, old bean!"
