Evidently very knowledgeable about the subject, this chap is recreating the British army at Waterloo, on a 1:1 scale! See here for details

Quote:
"So the idea is to have each British combatant at Waterloo represented in 28mm. It began as a crazy idea when I was researching the British Army at Waterloo. I have compiled a datebase of every British combatant - 28,000 men - and have arranged them into each company/troop/battery. The database is compiled from records at the PRO plus regimental records and so on. I have data (e.g. enlistment dates, wounds, physical description, birthplace, profession, literacy, height, etc) for 23,000 of those present. To assemble 28,000 figures once seemed an impossibly expensive task but the arrival of Victrix and Perry plastics has changed that. Some units are already complete (the Black Watch for example, had an estimated 200 men at the beginning of the 18th June. I want to label the base of each man when they are all done. Four more years to complete the rest."

Is this madness or magnificent?
Before you make up your mind, have a look at his blog . . . .

Hi!

I am the wrong person to ask that to.

That project is very similar to the scales of which I like doing things. ;)

Magnificent!

Incidentally I've painted up 750 28mm Austrian Napoleonics over the last 4.5 months. (Napoleonics is my other main wargaming interest apart from Epic and BFG). One 28mm Napoleonic unit can be more work work than a single Epic army!

Napoleonics is the highest form of geekiness, the highest level, the Jedi master of war games. We all will end up there sooner or later.

Ha, I started there many, many years ago, and have been sliding down the slippery slope of different periods ever since :D

However, this chap above and others like him have raised 'geekiness' to new levels

I have a British Peninsular army pack (6mm obviously) waiting in my stores for that fateful day.
