Quote (primarch @ 27 2003 Dec.,20:12) | "bandwidth theft" catchy phrase.... Is this another "new" GW policy or just enforcing an older edict? | This is quite normal behaviour for a lot of websites (not just GW, it also my policy as well for Felix's Gaming Pages).
I am not happy if I pay for webspace (which is a lot of money which I could spend on miniatures - approx ?180 per year) which then is used by other people to deliver my pictures on their website (so I pay for the bandwidth but they get the visitors). So I understand GW's point of view in this respect.
I am very protective of my photographs and I am hurt if people use them without permission and in some cases use them to sell stuff (which I then don't get any thing from).
The following picture was used by a website to sell the relevant model, they charged over ?100 for this model as it is rather rare.

and I never got a penny for it.
now you might say why are you "deep-linking" here, well in this instance there is a link to my website in my sig and I am the one doing it...
If it was done a lot then simply I would not have a website!
I will admit I was not happy with the fact that my photographs were used in Incoming without my permission. I allowed De'Aynes to show them but this does not give De'Aynes the right to allow others to use them. If someone had asked I would have probably said yes, no problem.
The problem when this sort of thing to starts to happen then anyone feels that they can use my pictures without recourse.
I do a bit of professional photography on the side now and again and am more than aware of the issues relating to images and copyright.

Quote (netepic @ 27 2003 Dec.,22:17) | Any chance of a simple html link Jimbo |
alas no (see Chris' post on how to do it)
If I put a link on this forum, GW will realise where people are coming from in downloading the pictures and could cause legal hassles for Cyber which could result in closure of the forum and the site.
Of course if you just type in the link in a fresh browser window then everything will be fine (GW still will not be happy - as WB were not happy when certain people guessed the URL of the new Harry Potter trailer.
I can post this link http://www.specialist-games.com/
I can not post this link (as a live link) www.specialist-games.com/images/dailyim ... 7/pic3.jpg

However, the pages in incoming are a direct extension of De'Aynes, thus, in theory, De'Aynes was still using your pics in a diferent context. Again, sorry if this has caused problems.
I will speak to Doug about how the pages are used/developed in the future.
Many Thanks
Chris

Hasn't caused problems as such (or yet), but I was unaware that sending pics into De'Aynes meant that they would also be used in Incoming. I was happy to support De'Aynes as a community site (and in a way I would be happy to support incoming as a community 'zine[1]) it's just the clarification was needed.
My usual caveat in using my pictures is to include a credit and a link to my website:
aka http://www.solegends.com/citle/index.htm and http://www.solegends.com/citle/citle24sleazyriderl.htm
[1] I have to admit I keep meaning to help Doug out and design a proper template so he can make it more like a magazine rather than just a Word document, or even do a cover.

As you can see from the GW UK Online Store the Epic Armageddon rulebook has sold out, to quote, NOTE: This book is currently out of stock, any orders containing this item will be held until it is ready for dispatch.
Now is this good news or bad news?
Personally I think it is good news, as the managers of certain GW stores have also indicated to me that the rulebook is selling fast!

Hi!
I say good news. It means they have made realistic estimations of sales and have produced accordingly. They must never make more than they sell for epic to be continously viable.

I say its a good sign, as all truly great things sell out within the first month.

I went in my local GW store today, and saw a copy of the rulebook, but didn't get it...sounds like I should have now!
And it was only ?20 as well!
Cheers

I am glad that I got my copy pre ordered from the UK site. ?It would have made it even harder to get it here in the United States now that they are sold out! ? ?And I am getting great use out of it too! ?I am also hoping that this is good news and means that EpicA will be around and SUPPORTED for a long time! ?Happy Hunting all!!!!

I didn't verify, but someone posted on the playtest forum that they were back in stock.

I'm sure by May-June when E:A is released in the US, there will be enough copies to go around ... as well as minis. But, as always, we'll have to wait and see.

And it is one very nice rulebook!
Cheers
