It seems I’ve caused a bit of an upset on a couple of sites. There is no plan to release a new Epic Box set. Jes Brickham did say there is going to be an “epic release” in the next few months, not an “Epic” release. I don’t know what this epic release will be. Jes will probably never talk to me again after this, whoops. I’m sorry that wasn’t clear from what I wrote about his response, I have amended the text in the original post to make this clearer. There have been rumours of a new Epic box set. Jes has strongly indicated there will not be one, along with denying the rumoured end to Warhammer Visions.
So, let's put down the pitchforks and torches, for now. *mutterwasreallylookingforwardtoagoodlynchingmutter*

Hi!

Who knew that the word "epic" could engender such confusion..... :D

Wish I would have put $$$ on this ... yet another voice in the dark, stating Epic may be coming back ... Really guys ... Didn't P.T. Barnum say, "A sucker is born every minute ! " Next time someone says Epic is coming back, see me ... I've got a bridge to sell ya. And as always, with all the 6mm sci-fi out there ... Who needs GW ! :gah :whistle

Hi!

I think it has to do with the hope that some how "epic" can come back with GW at the helm.

Hope springs ever eternal, as they say.

As for me, I buried that particular fancy in 1997. ;)

Honestly, from reading this guy's post I feel like he was being deliberately misleading. He definitely did not get an extra follower for his blog out of me for posting like that.

As to the state of Epic. Space Hulk came back as a stand alone game, since it worked so well as a stand alone game. Epic never was a standalone, and any 6mm scale stuff from GW would probably more more like a board game, as they're never goign to fully support a game again.

If they're going to bring anything else out it would be more along the lines of Blood Bowl, or Gorka Morka(Gorka Morka seems more likely than Necromunda as it's got that red vs blue minis thing going for it, and it didn't need more tha nthose two armies for it to work well).

Yeah I'd more likely see something like the old Wargamers Series of board games remastered and done. Those are stand alone, easily one offs, and the Horus Hersey remake by FFG was fairly well received.

Smells like fishing for traffic to me.

The moment I read the post I was thinking it sounded like "the next release will be epic" rather than "the next release will be Epic". You know, sometimes an unscrupulous reporter will punctuate creatively to make a story more sensational.

Jes categorically stated their was an Epic Release coming and that I could quote him on it. I was very pleased to hear this as an Epic Player. This is not rumour, this is fact. Jes has revealed there will be an epic release in the next few month. After realising what he had said he did check I wasn’t going to post this information on the Internet. Which of course I assured him I wouldn’t do.

This does not add up with what the guy wrote on his blog. He clearly said Jes talked about "epic = game" release and also posted a picture of epic game played in his blog.

If you read the blog post again you really can not understand it wrong. So either he is hmm how to put this nicely... stupid or just loose lipped.

I was about to say the same thing. This isnt 'people got the wrong idea from what I said', he categorically said 'Epic', and he was happy as he was an Epic player. Besides which, why would anyone ask that nobody mentions an epic release coming up with zero details?

Click bait, pure and simple. He knew what he was doing.

Yeah; I think you're right. Even his clarification is unclear.

I could see a Titanicus game being released for the Christmas season. But not an Epic set including infantry etc.

Let's see what happens. If nothing - good. If anything - good.
