Hi Doomkitten.

That's not quite what I meant, although I see why it came across that way.

I would want the stuff, and definitely would use it. I wouldn't take something that wasn't going to be used in one of the two armies I am currently working on. What I'm worried about is taking something that someone really wants.

I was worried about the parcel price for it going to Canada from Europe. The person recieving is supposed to pay, and the impression I got at the post office is that the price jumps by about 10$ Canadian once you go over 1kg. I was trying to avoid that.

As to it being blind. I am doing it that way since the person who wants to recieve it after me didn't seem keen on how everyone knows what is in the package. I did give the option, but then for the next person they may want it to be revealed to everyone. That's their choice. What I was trying to do was make it so that Atension would at least get some of the joy of finding new stuff in the package, since that is one of the reason he signed up instead of just doing a trade.

I hope this answers your questions/concerns.

Regarding it being 'blind' - it's absolutely the person's right to not know what's going in/out of the package if that's how they want to do it, but their choice shouldn't have an effect on anyone else. Personal choice is personal choice, etc. And postage - I cannot imagine saving CAN$10 is worth not just loading up the parcel with goodies. Yeah, this might sound rather harsh to say when it's not me getting the extra postal fee, but when I consider just how much everyone will take from the parcel (assuming people get their 'claimed' items) is it really the right choice to save pennies and not make the parcel bulge with more metal joy for people further down the line? I just don't believe that weight should be a factor in what goes in or out of the package.

Anyway, these are all just my opinions and I don't have any more or less say than anyone else in this little venture. I don't want anyone to take what I say with any more weight than whatever anyone else says. Stuff will happen, things be decided, minis will be moved to hands that will cherish them. Yay and woo!

Now that I'm back and able to be in the swing of things, I'd like to note that while I have no more weight in this than anyone else but as Kyuss and myself started this little adventure I'd just like to state my personal wishes for Waldo, if I may. I'd live that things were public and that while people may wish for things/parts, I'd love it to be more in the spirit of "I'm interested" vs "I have dibs".

Feel free to ignore me though as I'm just some schmo :)

Hey guys.

Just to update. I should be posting to Atension on Friday or Saturday if all goes well.

Once he confirms he has the stuff(and has had a chance to open it) I will make a post here showing what I took and what I added.

I have had some help from Ginger in sorting out how to put the package together.

I'd also like to apologise to anyone who thought I was wholly focused on just the weight of the package. I didn't mean to make that impression, but when I found out the cost once it went over 1kg I was a bit freaked out by the cost, even though it is technically not my cost to take on. My main focus has been to take only things I'm using in my two upcoming armies, and to give as much I could part with that would be worth more than what I took. My collection is still relatively small and new, despite owning some very old figures.

If I end up going over a KG I may split the package and send two to Atension as that is cheaper. Don't ask me why. I don't know.

So here's where Waldo stands at this time - bertnernie(Cz) > atension(Can) > L4(US) > Doom Kit(US) > TheDean(US) > Blindhorizen(US) > Yorkie(Cy) > fredmans(Sw) > kyussinchains (Uk) > Tiny-Tim(Uk) ...

Hi Mordoten, please could you provide your country abbreviation so we have a rough idea of where 'Waldo' is travelling.

Guys, we still have not cracked the "international postage" conundrum, and this needs to be sorted out ASAP.

The current process is for the recipient to pay for the postage, in effect paying for the privilege of having a rummage and being able to dispose of unwanted but usefull stuff. Unfortunately this could be quite expensive for the guys paying for international postage, and it is likely that Waldo will frequently wander from country to country. At the moment those paying for international postage are:-
Atension, Fredmans and Kyussinchains, and possibly
L4 (depending on how large Canada => US post is) and Yorkie (if we can find a suitable solution and he wants to come back into the chain).

Please brainstorm suggestions on how we might share the costs of international postage. This has to be practical and preferably as fair as possible. Here are a few ideas to start with, are there any others?

Option 1
The two people either side of the international transaction share the cost.
    • Bertnernie and I shared this burden, but that was still roughly 2x the cost of local postage.
    • In several cases this actually means people are paying the full international cost, which is why Yorkie has withdrawn at least for now.

Option 2
Those in the list from Atension onwards all chip into a small fund, used to supplement the international post.
    • Someone needs to run this, properly,
    • Paying in advance means that we are guessing at the potential costs which inevitably will be wrong and need correction.
(All of which probably preclude this as a viable alternative, but I include this to spark other thoughts)

Option 3
When an 'international postage' situation occurs,
    1. Those remaining on the list share the additional cost providing small PayPal funds to the sender
      • But this means that this burden rises as the list grows smaller
    2. We include 'the preceeding 5' (or some other agreed number) who also chip in as well as those remaining on the list
      • Whilst possibly the fairest approach, it does effectively mean that virtually everyone on the current list chips into the payment of every international parcel.
      • This also assumes that everyone has PayPal
      • Where there are significant numbers, the PayPal admin costs may start to become significant

Thoughts?

The postage to Bertnernie was £14.60 for 1.001 Kg tracked parcel. I do not know the cost of the original parcel from the US to Kyuss, bust suspect it is comparable.

Hi guys.

So I've just come back from my weekly trip to the city and sent the package. I don't know how it happened, but the lady let me bump the package up to priority and I was charged less than I thought I would be. I'll message Atension with the details.

However after I got back home I sat down at my desk and saw two plastic Rhinos that I intended on including. I know they're not much, so I won't be sending them separately. However if anyone here ever wants to trade with me I can send them onto you as an extra.

My trade thread is here:

Bertnernie must have charmed that postal worker like crazy, only 16.50 CDN that's nothing.I'll let everyone know when it arrives.
