The Bulwark Assault Craft from Troublemaker Games' latest crowdfunder looks like a pretty good option. Won't be available for another month or two, though.

Mate,

Check out Aliexpress, Chinese resin knockoffs of the Forge World aircraft.

Cheers

These comparison of dropships from Reapers CAV line may be helpful.

Errmmm I know its bad, but I have a few of these and the quality is pretty darn good.

I figure if GW/FW refuses to sell em, what choice do I have? (that is if I want a Thunderhawk that really truly looks like Thunderhawk).

I would add if I was going to go down the proxy route I would definitely go the Bulwark Assault craft option...its easily the closest looking to a TH with the added advantage of the money going to a new emerging producer of awesome 6mm sci fi.

To be honest I have that trouble less and less; I think partly because I've been distanced from 40K background and imagery for a while, even in the form of Epic. I liked models from the first two Troublemaker CFs, and having recently looked at Onslaught's Sisterhood vehicles, I dragged out all my E:A rhino-based vehicles and wondered how much I'd get on ebay for 'em. Onslaught's Junos and things just look like 'better rhinos' to me. Now, I look at the Bulwark and think it's a 'better thunderhawk'.

I really need to get a copy of sketchup or rhino. All this new stuff is convincing me to leave the putty in the packet a bit longer...
