Well, everything needs to start somewhere and the best promotion is and will always be happy players spreading the word after an event. :)
I know it can suck (for a TO) but i found this to be true for every event, not only our wargaming hobby.
So don't worry, just follow your plan and see it through. Worst thing that could happen is blaming yourself afterwards that you haven't given everything you got.
As to tickets sales, the CLWC is planning to make a showing but still need to sort out travel & accommodation.
BTW, a shout out to all the players in the area: Would anybody be able to put a couple fellow gamers up for a night maybe? :)

Thanks MrGonzo, as always your wise words are appreciated and spot on! You shall hereby be known as 'Guru Gonzo' :0). As for you're question re board/roof for the night IJW's offer is a very generous one.

That's a good point, I have floor space for up to four gamers but I'm fifteen miles from the venue so it would need to be people with their own car as there's only two passenger seats in the van.

Thanks Ian :0)

It's going to be a long day but I'm driving from Guildford if any London folks want a lift, you'll have to get to Guilford though!

Another generous offer. Cheers Rug :0)

I am thinking about coming from Germany. I found a flight with reasonable costs (around 130 Euros), but it is landing in Stansted. Is there perhaps somebody who could pick me up around London? Or who could give me a tip for "How to get from Stansted to Exeter" :D

Also, I am still looking for an accomodation, since there is no flight back on the same day. So if anybody could recommend a hotel around the area of the tourney or at least in short taxi "range" I would be very happy.

Will be fantastic if you can join us Largo_W. I'm out most of this weekend, but will compile a list of Exeter accommodation on Sunday evening (hotels and bed and breakfasts). For the moment I can just think of the following: Premier Inn (in front of Exeter St Davids Rail Station), Jury's Inn (City centre next to bus station), Premier Inn (Exeter Sowton Industrial Estate) and Travelodge (Exeter Motorway services). Each have their respective websites with prices. I'll find out about independent B&B's in Whipton village too (as they would only involve walk to venue from your room).

Thanks! I think these will suffice for a start. I have to check for rental cars and train, these will probably the wisest choice.
Will try to get this sorted out by Tuesday. :-)

Not a comprehensive list of lodgings by any means, but will post new ones as I find them. The following are the standard lExeter Premier Inn's, Travelodge, Jurys Inn etc along with two B&B's. Will have to find B&B's close to venue (as these ones are either close to train station or bus station).

Premier Inn - Exeter – (opposite St Davids Rail Station)

Jury’s Inn, Central Exeter (opposite Bus Station)

Exeter Travelodge, M5 (Motorway services)

http://www.st-andrews-hotel.com/ is another one to look at although it's not the closest. Several of the players at my last Infinity tournament stayed there and said it was good.

I am going crazy.. Flights to Exeter are around 400-500 Euro and last up to 23 hours in total because of long stays in Manchester. Flights to Bristol ain't cheap either. there are flights to Cardiff around 300 Euro per Person. But then I still have to get a car and drive to Exeter.
The cheapest, and surprisingly fastest option is to go by car! This would cost around 350 Euro in total. This is insane! Whhhhyyyy!!!!??? :D
I have to speak to my friend, chances are high that we try to go there by car...

Tell me about it. :(

My wife used to be able to fly direct from Exeter Airport to Berlin and Frankfurt to visit family but the flights stopped with no explanation. Now she usually ends up taking the train to London and then the Eurostar.

If you can get to Schiphol there are daily flights to and from Exeter.

Try these two options below: I worked in Oberwesel/Germany a couple of years ago and had to 'stupidly' get the bus up to Manchester airport in the end (via cheap bus as too expensive to fly directly from Exeter as you say). Exeter Airport seems to be stuck in the Dark Ages unfortunately!

The first of these two options is the train route:
http://www.thetrainline-europe.com/?gcl ... tAodIEEANw

There are options available to travel direct from Hanover to Exeter (3 changes either way seems to be the best of the bunch).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's the second option, - yes I know its a bus, but take a look first :0)

1. You'll have to get from Hanover to Cologne first! Sorry :0(
2. Go to http://uk.megabus.com/manchester.aspx (They're based in Manchester, but dont just go to Manchester, don't worry)

3. Passengers=1, Country=Germany, Leaving From=Cologne, Travelling to=Exeter, OUtbound date, return date (you select), then press search.

Here's a sample journey that I picked for you:
http://uk.megabus.com/JourneyResults.as ... thReturn=1

I based this journey on travelling from Cologne on the 10th July (with the travel involved you'll need to leave on this date) and the return journey on the 14th (considering the time of the bus etc)

Departs 11:00 Cologne , Gummersbacher Strasse

Arrives 04:00 Exeter , Bus Station

18hrs 0mins

megabus
1

£25.00

Return Journey:
Departs 02:15 Exeter , Bus Station

Arrives 19:30 Cologne , Gummersbacher Strasse

16hrs 15mins

megabus
1

£30.00

Another option would be to bu a return flight to London (from Hanover/Cologne ( flight using your usual preferred vendor) then a cheap bus from London Airport that travels all the way down to Exeter coach station (try Stagecoach, National Express or Megabus). This would save you the bother of driving, and might save you quite a bit.

What's wrong with Bristol? Pretty sure there are flights from there to both Berlin and Frankfurt.

Largo, any flight with two legs is going to be expensive and slow, domestic flights are not cheap sadly. How much are direct flights into exeter or Bristol from other German cities? Think I posted some options in your blog thread.

What's wrong with Bristol Airport is having a choice of airport parking (still pricy even with the unofficial ones) or a 3-4 hour round trip by car depending on traffic. :(

Exeter Airport is about twenty minutes away.

Once Largo can sort his travel tickets out (fingers crossed) then it will most definitely will be :)

If only those Terminator teleporter devices were real then us Epic fans would have a grand time, attending every single tournament in the world.....er..I'll get my coat and taxi for one - (with all this scenery making the glue fumes have finally got to me..
).. :)
