Hi all,

I've just set this thread up to feature a game called Block Mania that GW made in 1987. It is set in 2000AD's Judge Dredd universe and the objective of the game is for each player to take control of a citiblock each and cause as much death, destruction and general humiliation to their neighbours as possible!

Anyone interested in the inspiration for this game should read the "Block Mania" Judge Dredd story. This has been most recently republished in Judge Dredd: The Complete Case Files 5.

I'll be playing this throughout the day so hopefully will post up more this evening.

Clearly this has no relevance to Epic or 6mm gaming so apologies to anyone not interested in this little nostalgia trip!

I've got Mega-Mania as well, but not the players... :-\

I should mention as well that I'm using the "Happy Hour" expansion rules from an old Shite Dwarf magazine. There's some additional nastiness in the firm of Thermo Bombs, Nerve Gas and Plascrete Virus.

I miss the days when GW released games that didn't require minis.

I'm backing Buddy Holly! Death to Sammy Fox!

Turn 1:

Sammy Fox got off to a flier! Demo charges were set off in Buddy Holly's vehicle park but failed to collapse any squares. The infuriating Mob then looted a Shopping Mall! Damn your sticky fingers Fox!

Buddy Holly's Crocks strike back though when they deploy a Missile Defence Laser! Boom! They knock out one section of Sammy Fox and start a chain reaction that sees Fox's front crumble!

Turn 2:

The bustling Fox Mob use Firebombs to unleash an inferno in Buddy's basement! The filthy Foxers rejoice in their evil ways, claiming that they'll burn the block to the ground. Unperturbed, Buddy's Boys snort contemptuously at the glamorous invaders! "That'll be the day!"

Buddy's Crocks are joined by a Mob with a Spit Cannon, both of whom shoot their load at Fox! They succeed only in hitting (Bo) Diddley squat!

Turn 3:

The Fox Mob continue to frustrate Holly's block by switching off the power. This makes travel through the block more difficult as all of the Elevators, Grav Chutes and Civic Areas grind to a halt.

Furious, Buddy's heavy weapons teams are determined to wrap the victory up before Peggy Sue Gets Married. The Missile Defence Laser causes a huge amount of damage to Sammy Fox's once impressive infrastructure, but despite the block being engulfed in smoke and flame, Fox does seem to be hanging on for another day in the Sun.

Holly's heroes know that it is only a matter of time now before victory is in their hands. "Sammy Fox is going down!"

Turn 4:

The Fox force are ineffectual and unable to cause any more damage. Buddy Holly's Superhero drops off Demo Charges in Fox's inner sanctum and causes more destruction! But still Fox hangs on!

Meantime, there's a small blaze that's been burning in Buddy's basement... It spreads out of control and a floor collapses....then another...and another...and another!

Then Kaboom! Buddy Holly falls from the sky to an all too early demise!

The Sammy Fox blockers cannot believe the turn of events! Couples rejoice and urge one another to "Touch Me, I Wanna Feel Your Body"...

Outstanding Sammy Fox, outstanding!

Sounds like a great game! Having fun was important in the 80s.

Having fun should always be important no matter what decade or age we all are!

There's no danger of it replacing Epic as my game of choice but it was nice to dust off the stuff and relive my glory days of gaming from over 20 years ago!
