I could never have gotten the great deals some of you have managed as I've only gotten back into 6mm in the past year or so.

However I did get a Squat army in exchange for a few blood bowl mini that were leftovers that I didn't want to use in my completed teams. I got a land train, a colossus and Leviathan, 7 copters, 6 tunnelers, bikes and trikes a couple of other things including a bunch of infantry.

It was really great because what i offered I thought was only enough to get me the tunnelers and a few copters.

The only other thing that could be considered a deal would be I was given one of only 300 copies of Liber Caotica's special edition(bound in a plastic cover with metal screws driven through it). It is, I believe, one of, if not the only copiy signed by the author.

Hi!

That's a great trade!

And you know what? Since Blood bowl figs are highly sought after, I bet the other guy thinks he got the better deal! ;D

Really wish I had done the same for SM2/TL but I thought I would just be ok with the Battles Book but realize now that was dumb. No way I am trying to track down all those issues now.

Hi!

Indeed they don't.

Haven't bought one since issue # 192 or so.

Well I only gave him two Blood Bowl figures that I thought were hard to find. The rest were things like Warhammer fantasy skeletons without swords or shields and stuff like that. After looking on e-bay and other placesI have come to realise that the special edition Liber Chaotica that I have is probably worth more than I thought.

I looked online for a similar copy to mine, and without it being signed it was going for $1000. Non- special edition copies were going for over $100. So maybe the signed copy might go for a little more than that, since I'm moving soon and might not be able to take it with me.

Well pretty much my only great deal was, like others, during the great Epic cleansing of the last millennium. Blisters and boxes were sold for £1.00. I can't remember exactly how much I ended up with, but a couple of years back I ventured into my parents' loft to find the ones I had not opened, which was enough to fill a WHFB game box and a BFG game box. The best bit about it was that the store manager couldn't be bothered to count the blisters, so he just gave me the lot for about £15. Sadly, I was only interested in Eldar at the time so I didn't bother to take anything else.

Since then it's gone downhill, I sold off most of what I didn't need not long before GW ditched the minis a second time, and thus "sold the gold before the gold rush" to quote kyuss. Now I am paying through the nose to acquire stuff without any high-value items to trade. The worst part is that I sold off all my 3rd edition Eldar SHTs models intending to replace them with 4th edition sculpts, but I totally forgot to buy them during the fire sale. So now I still need 4th edition Eldar SHTs, which are proving both rare and expensive. :(

Which reminds me... kyuss, will send you a PM.

I was about to post a similar story. End of third edition and a friend and I visited a GW were all Epic blisters were £1. They guy on the till stopped counting at £60. All in one bag it was too heavy to carry, so it got split into two bags, and included about 6 of the larger Thunderhawks, a load of Command Land Raider twin packs and a battalion of Eldar SHTs.

Hi!

I only wish I could have gone to a GW store back then. I have heard similar accounts of those whom could carry the stuff out without mail order. Over the phone with shipping weight is a consideration, so while still cheap not as awesome as this.

I used to live round the corner from GW HQ in Lenton, it was largely during one of my "not into warhammer" periods though, in between 3rd and 4th edition. So sad I didn't make better use of it at the time. Think I only picked up a few Forge World buildings (and I couldn't afford the cathedral or tank factory).

Hi!

That's the paradox of all this. When there is opportunity, there are less resources. When there are more resources there is less opportunity.

I can only fantasize what I would have been able to do with my current resources back then.

Such is life.

That reminds me, a similar thing was running on GW Mail Order at the time, except that it was those plastic infantry double-sprues which were at 1.50 each. I still have about 20 double sprues each of Tyranids and Chaos, and more of IG and Eldar. I had a massive box full of the damn things, and when I moved away I spent two days clipping every damn figure off and putting them in bags for storage.

I often daydream away that if I could go back in time I would go back to when I first got into epic and make my younger self buy EVERYTHING! I'd buy a few grands worth of tyranid plastics so I could use them now to pay of my mortgage! I'd keep a fw psi-titans for myself, and make sure I had enough orkeosaurus to be able to bring myself to paint (and ruin) the one( and only one!) I have now!

I'm sure that there is better things to do with time travel, but I cant think of one!
