Hi Magnus,

I was using the Eastern fringe for the other project, namely the Exiles/Progenitors. I don't mind putting them in the Eastern Fringe as well, but I was wondering why they would have to be outside the range of the Astronomican? Why couldn't they just be worlds within the Imperium that have went rogue?

I did look up the Astronomican on the Lexicanum so know what it is but not why it would cause an issue...

Cheers!

As I always say it's a Big Galaxy ... so who know what you'll find ... in Sci-fi ... or for real ... :o 8)

True! I'd just like to create something that Epic players can go along with and not alienate anyone who knows a lot more about 40K lore than I do! I'm more than happy for the community to expand on what is there as much as they want! :)

"The truth is out there ..." ^-^ In theory there are more planets than stars ... So from a gaming standpoint there is no reason the limited 40K races couldn't run across any of the other alien types from the companies that make them, and that I listed. When landing on a new planet in a 1st Contact situation ... or any contat after that, since 1st Contact might have been bloody ... :o Or even become allies as with the Tau. I plan on using my CinC Felids, Martahk, Reds, etc. as Tau allies ... And in the old fluff, which we still follow to a point, Orks could hire Freebooterz and Chaos could have Ork Freebooterz in their SM Legions ... So I could see, and will impliment, Orks and Chaos having Felids, Reds, etc., etc. in their Mobz and Legions as Freebooterz ... You can look thru out history where a simliar thing occured. Britons hired Vikings as mercenaries, or look at the Romans, etc., etc. ... Or more recently in the AWI, those "slimey Limey Imperialists" hired German "Kraut" Hessian Mercenaries to help suppress the rustic American Freedom Fighters ... ;D

Interesting range of options of aliens.
I use the old Baccus centaurs as Zoats and the ZZith (worms) as a separate race.

Hi!

I always dreamed of GW making zoats for epic. Then again I wanted them to make lots of things. ;)

Primarily I said that as, at least in my understanding, any world within it's range will get visited by Imperium ships now and then, even if it's just a Marine Chapter that considers that world one of their recruiting worlds. If you wanted / needed them to be unknown to the Imperium, then that is where they would probably be from. As I recall, the Tau are also from the Eastern Fringe.

On the other hand, they could be from somewhere near one of the lesser "Eye of Terror" zones scattered across the galaxy. Probably not from inside some such zone, but near enough to have nearly endless Warp Storms prohibiting Imperium ships from finding them. Of course, they would have to come up with a different means of FTL travel to interact with the rest of the universe, but that's a different issue.

There is not shortage of alien or human races available in 6mm out there now ... I know some are very much wedded to the GW style of model ... and only want GW Epic models. My advise - check with the crew here and then eBay, Bartertown and TMP ... For the rest of us with more eclectic tastes ... there is a number of GW "Epic-ish" type as well as an even bigger universe of other fine 6mm sci-fi. Many of the other companies' human infantry (DRM, Exodus Wars, CinC, Microworld, TMG, GZG, AB, etc.) fit in quite well for IG and in some cases SMs or even Chaos Cultists ... Plus as I said, all kinds of very unique Aliens of all types ... It's BIG Galaxy ... ;)
