I've got most of an EUK style AMTL army painted up, when it's all done, I'm hoping to have the following available

2 Warlords
4 Reavers
6 Warhounds
2 thunderbolt formations
8 Stands of robots
8 knight warden models (proxies for robots)

I'm wondering what to arm my titans with.... I'll be keeping one warlord and one reaver stock for use in marine/guard lists, but I really don't fancy going for magnets and the chipped paint and frustration that brings!

I was thinking of the second warlord having CCW, Volcano cannon and maybe 2 turbolasers for shield stripping, but would be open to other ideas....

I was thinking of having one assault reaver with CCW and two melta cannons, but would it be better dropping a melta cannon for a TLD?

the second reaver I was going to give CCW and twin plasma cannons, and the third I was thinking CCW, quake cannon and CLP, I'm happy proxying the quake cannon as an AML for games where I'd rather shoot a bigger non-MW barrage every turn

4 of my warhounds are stock VMB+PB, I was thinking of doing one with twin PB and one twin inferno cannons

thoughts? does that give me plenty of strategic options or am I doomed to spend my life levering weapons off and buying tiny tiny magnets from ebay?

Personally, I don't think I'd bother with an AMTL army unless I was planning to magnetise it... I'd just spend all my list-building time inwardly cursing that I should have armed them with X,Y,X. Not to mention when the list is reviewed and all of a sudden certain combinations are nerfed/boosted.

QFT. It's about the only way of varying the army, to keep it interesting and fresh too.

I'd have thought you'd have gone for 12 Warlords and 24 Reavers so you can have more combinations to begin with ;D .

OK then.

Warlord

I'm personally partial to plasma, especially on slower titans. If you time it right, you can double or march forward when you're recharging the guns anyway. So, instead of TLDs, I'd go with PCs; They're nearly as good for shield stripping, and much better against anything unshielded.

Warlords are not that susceptible to surprise CC attacks (8x 2+ is usually defense enough), so I'd probably go with two arm guns. 2x VC makes for formidable standoff fire, and they hit very reliably even on the double.

Reavers 2 through 4

CC weapons is very good on these, to let them engage effectively and to defend better against terminators and the like. For gunnery, if you like them assault-oriented, Laser burners or Melta-cannon and a cheap tertiary weapon (TLD, VMB or GB). If you have points to spare, you could also mount a missile instead of the cheap gun, and plan on firing the missile while advancing during turn 1.

For more shooty reavers, 2x TLDs or 2x PC (or even 2x PD); I do like plasma...

Warhounds

I'm not a fan of warhounds with identical weapons; I like to run them as singletons for the added activations, and there's a surcharge. I prefer TLDs on these, with PB or VMB as the secondary, 60cm is usually enough to stay out of harms way.

Here is how I kitted mine, copied from a blog post:

Mid-range firepower (top right & top middle)

Reaver with 2 x Plasma Cannons, 1 x Support Missile: The slow fire on the 6 x MW2+ thrown out by the Plasma Cannons syncs up well with the one-shot nature of the Support Missile. Fire the Plasma Cannons turn 1, move up and fire the Support Missile at a seperate target in turn 2, and then have the Plasma Cannons back and ready to fire Turn 3. The Support Missiles are quite interesting too, providing a choice between Vortex (BP3, Macro-Weapon, Titan Killer (1), Ignores Cover), Warp (MW2+, Titan Killer(D3), Ignores Shields), Deathstrike (MW2+, Titan Killer(D6)) and Barrage (10BP, Disrupt).

Reaver with 2 x Laser Blasters, 1 x Volcano Cannon: Forming the mid-range group with the Reaver directly above, this Reaver excels at taking down Void Shields and then blowing away titans! Each Laser Blaster throws out 6 x AT3+/AP5+, meaning on average it will strip 8 Voids at 60cm, before the TK(D3) of the Volcano Cannon hopefully blows a big chunk out of the now unshielded titan. The twelve AT 3+ will also make a complete mess of any armoured formations that happen to stray out into the open.

Artillery (top left & bottom left):

Reaver with 3 x Quake Cannons: Although the 2 x Quake Cannon, 1 x Carapace Landing Pad Reaver is more fashionable and more powerful, I think it approaches a little bit too cheesy for the type of games I play. Still, throwing out 9 BP of macro-goodness to 90cm is good enough for me!

Reaver with 2 x Missile Launchers, 1 x Titan CCW: A much cheaper titan than its artillery brother (850pts vs 650pts), the Missile Launchers provide it with a decent amount of firepower (6BP @ 60cm) while hopefully the TCCW can help to protect both titans against pesky teleporters looking to destroy them.

Assault:

Two identical Reavers here, both with a TCCW, a Melta Cannon and a Laser Burner. Each titan is supposed to advance up the board and threaten objectives and they are loaded out with that in mind. The Melta Cannon provides them with a little short-ranged fire power (MW2+ (TKD3) @ 30cm), but the main reason for them is that is adds an extra TK(D6) fire fight attack to the Reaver. This syncs well with the Laser Burner which gives an additional two FF attacks and an additional 4 CC attacks. With the TCCW it means the Reaver will throw out 8 3+ FF attacks and a TK D6 attack, while in Close combat it will produce 10 3+ attacks and 3 TK(D3) attacks. Not bad!

Warlords: The titan with the 2 x Volcano Cannons and 2 x Turbo-lasers throws out 8 x AT 3+ / AP 5+ and 2 x MW2+ (TK D3) making it exceptionally good at taking down Void Shields and then dealing with enemy War Engines. On a good day, I think it could eat a fully-shielded Reaver Titan in one turn.

The other titan with 2 x Gatling Blasters and 2 x Plasma Destructors puts out 8 x AT 4+ / AP 4+ and 8 x MW 2+ Slow Firing. Being stuck with the Gatling Blaster is a bit of a pain, but I think this titan will perform quite well against mechanised infantry formations, or those with reinforced armour, like my friends Thousand Sons.

Thanks chaps, please be aware this is using the EUK titan list so most weapons are at 25-50% extra shots and the only points paid are to upgrade to a vetern princeps to allow a tactical weapon (volcano, quake, plasma destructor, deathstrike or barrage missile) or second on a warlord

@dptdexys I'm not made of money...... ;)

Well side stepping the whole keeping Warhounds alive discussion, I do like my basic VMB & PBG combination as a good all round option. I have been frustrated with the double PBG following several examples of double, shoot into cover & miss followed by die. However, dual armed STL, RL & SIG add in nasty surprise packages.

For the Reavers I think that you have generally covered everything, for a Blitz Guard I would use a CCW,CLP & MRL combination. For the main attacking Titans I am currently split between the CC/FF monsters that pack the CCW,Lasburner Melta Cannons and all out fire power of the Gatling/Turbo/Plasma/VMB.

If you are going to play with a rush style then I would try and fit in an Inferno Gun or two as the 4BP Ignore Cover is just brutal otherwise stick with your MRL.

Interesting enough the single shot Barrage Missile hasn't been see at tournaments, I'm wondering if it should benefit from Disrupt as well as this is an option for the doubling CC/FF Battle Titan first turn shot.

A twin PBG Warhound would make a good blitz guard. Place your blitz in one corner of your long table edge and it right next to it so nothing can teleport out of arc. Get it on overwatch ASAP and an average of 5MW hits should make a mess of anything (think it'd break SM Terminators before they get to attack on average).

I'm an advocate of building something that looks cool, then finding out how best to use it. I use a Warlord with Volcano cannon, two Apocalypse Missile Launchers and a Quake cannon. It's a powerful long-range generalist piece with options for more specialised tasks.

I have one standard Reaver – twin turbo laser destroyers and an apocalypse launcher; one with twin gatling blasters and a turbo laser destructor; and one with a power fist, inferno cannon and apocalypse launcher.

The third reaver is great for cleaing mixed formations out of urban terrain, and also provides a useful deterrent to advancing formations.

thanks for the advice everyone :)

I'm planning on doing the following:

Warlord - 2x TLD, 1x VC, 1x CCW
Warlord - 1x TLD, 1x PC, 1x VC 1x CCW

Reaver - 2x TLD, 1x AML
Reaver - 1x QC, 1x CLP, 1x CCW (happy proxying quake as AML until it is corrected and loses slow firing ;))
Reaver - 2x PC, 1x CCW
Reaver - 1x IG, 1x MC, 1x CCW
Reaver - 3x MC
Reaver - 3x TLD

4x Warhound - PBG + VMB
Warhound - 2x IG
Warhound - 2x PBG

I could send you some. :spin

If Vaaish goes through with increasing the # of shots on the Plasma weapons, I'd just take loads of those. Basically everything that has a crazy amount of shots. Who cares what you face if you dish out 10+ shots MW 3+....

well I'll mostly be using the Epic-UK list, although I do have a few knights which would be useful as forge knights....

the Epic-UK list has 25-50% extra firepower over the standard weapons, so plasma is very tempting, although I didn't want to go overboard.....
