I was sincere when I said it was regrettable. I very much liked the concept but for me personally I felt it just beefed up the Titans a little too much. The removal of the reactor is a big fix that has made a major difference. That change with the ability to order a Titan as it is activated gives Titans more longevity and flexibility.
Bearing in mind that - depending on when you activate units - Advancing Titans may fire before First Fire Praetorians, the balance feels about right now. A big problem was that Advancing Titans could be battered by Praetorians in the FF phase before getting the chance to fire, at least now a player will be able to fire that Titan after taking incoming fire from a maximum of one Praetorian. Does that make sense?

Hi!

I still have to think about the adjustments you made and of course try them out. I may revisit the topic after I see what the shortcomings are in the new context.

Its a matter of having the time to do this, which won't be a lot for a while. :(

I was surprised when I wrote out that summary sheet for my own reference that the vast bulk of information is the same as on previous summary sheets. For what feels like a fairly radical change to the system, the turn summary hasn't changed much.

Obviously I had been trying out some other rules changes but those related to the Titan Plasma rules which regrettably I have not continued with and DS's Titan Damage tables which I have. Neither of these are required to play Evolution but are interesting to try out in conjunction with Evolution's rules.

Hi!

DS, damage tables are very good and I anticipate using them in exclusion to the original ones. They are definitely much, much better.

I'm truly glad you like them. I'm also glad to hear that they'll be included. 8)

I think only Chaos and big things, like the Imperator and Mega-Gargant.

Heh! No rest for the wicked! :D

Seriously though DS, they are great, and as Primarch says, a big improvement on what we've had up until now! Thanks for doing this, it is very much appreciated and is adding a lot of fun to my games!

Another play test done and dusted! It was another 5,000 point battle, this time Orks v Squats. At the end of turn 2 it was 39VPs for the Orks to 38VPs to the Squats. However, despite the tight score line, the Squats were in a bad position with only several super heavies left on the board. This meant objectives wee likely to fall all over the place in turn 3 and the Squat player capitulated.

A victory for me at last! :spin

The system continues to function well and has now been tested with most factions. Still plenty more play testing to be done but I can't really see much needing to change with the rules now, the basics of play seem not to need tinkered with further.

Oh, one into has just occurred to me. I'm not keen on the -1 to hit charging units. I think I'll drop that particular amendment.

Hi!

-1 to hit is a pretty onerous penalty, so it should be used sparingly.

Yes, it has the effect of unduly punishing units on Advance orders while eradicating the benefit of being on First Fire.

Consider that rule amendment gone!
