It's mainly as I'm generally more likable.

Also, everyone knows Thousand sons are one of the weaker lists.....

Thousand Sons were on Terra. They were used by Horus to break down the final wards on the palace. Also the canonical battle lines / forces originated with the old Horus Heresy Wargamer Series boardgame where they were one of the traitor forces.
See Index Astartes III pp. 40-47

Not sure where this oft repeated thing about them not being on Terra comes from.

I think the fact that they were always the least numerous legion and had a solid kicking from the space wolves means they were never major players in the siege.....

Aaaaaaactually, Space marine legions had a lot of non Space marine support roughly equivelent to Imperial Guard armies and thousand Sons were red before and during the Heresy. My red tanks are Thousand Sons vassals!


On the question of Daemons, as we're not using strict points or list building, I'd suggest a combined Daemon Pool per side with each Daemonic Pact contributing 2 lesser Daemons each. I'd be tempted to suggest 3 each but I imagine we'll want to keep Daemon summoning restricted :(

I have a poorly painted one, it also needs repairing and re basing.

If it's needed for the BIG game I can do a quick repair job on it.

What are people's thoughts on titans? I have a warlord and reaver ready, should I do the other reavers and a pair of warhounds or is that overkil?

Started the base for the Imperator and 1 of the Warords, waiting for the base texture to dry.
Also started to try to improve the paint job on the Imperator.

How is this for a setting

5 tables in an H shape
1 side of the H - Imperial palace running along longways on one side of the tables
Other side of the H - Spaceport centrally placed
Central table - Imperial control centre centrally placed

Imperial palace
Chaos have breached the first line of defences (Apocs smaller fortress set) and Imperials have retreated to last fortification walls (Apocs new larger walls)

4 players
Chaos
Apoc+Tom Sanders - 7.5k of World Eaters/7.5k of Iron Warriors of Death Guard respectively
Imperial
Kyuss+Tim - 5k of Imperial Fists/5k of Blood Angels respectively - maybe mix in some IG?

1 Objective of main gateway, 3 more objectives on and around walls

Spaceport
Chaos hold the spaceport but an imperial relief force is counterattacking

4 players
Chaos
Kev+Mike 5k of thousand sons/night lords/5k of thousand sons respectively

Imperial
Dave T+Ben 7.5 each of Imperial forces

3 objectives in the spaceport complex

Command centre
Held by Imperials but surrounded by Chaos

Chaos
Dave B + 6k of Chaos each
Mark P + 4k of Imperials each

3 objectives in complex

In addition could all players bring whatever titans they have painted, we'll divide them between the sides and spread them round the forces (in addition to the points above)

Players can obviously swap around between tables as the day goes on - and still waiting to check if anybody else is coming.

Army selection
If everybody can let me know if they are ok with bringing what I've suggested
Imperial forces defending palace - only 1 loaded thunderhawk per player, rest are unloaded
Imperial forces assaulting spaceport - all with transport
Imperial forces in command centre - all on ground
Chaos forces assaulting palace - no restrictions
Chaos forces defending spaceport - all on ground
Chaos forces assaulting command centre - no restrictions
No spacecraft
When selecting forces don't worry about core-support etc restrictions, also to keep things moving i'd suggest upgrading formations/using bug formations rather than having loads of activations.

Titans
All Imperial titans use AMTL stats, all Chaos titans we will upgun to match. To prevent them dominating too much with lots of titans about shooting over 30cm away at a non-WE target gets a +1 to hit.

Daemons
Each double table gets 3 D6 daemons per turn and 1 Greater Daemon, the single table gets 2 D6 daemons + 1 GD free. No need to pay for daemons in armylist, also all formations that could have a pact automatically have one for free (for ease of bookkeeping over who has a pact)

Objectives
Imperial palace -
Gateway - 10 pts if you hold it at the end of play
Wall objectives - 3 pts each
+ 10 pts if you hold all objectives on table

Spaceport
the side that holds more objectives gets a free 3 template orbital bombardment (on any table) each turn
If imperials regain complete control they get to have Xk drop pod assault on place chaos besiegers.
Whichever side holds more objectives gets 5pts, holding all gets 10pts

Command centre
Objective 1 - each turn Imperials hold it each Wall Section has D3 Void Shields
Objective 2 - each turn Imperials hold it they have a free re-roll per battle
Objective 3 - each turn Imperials hold it Chaos cannot teleport onto walls

Titans- 1pt for each titan destroyed

Primarchs - Simon has some Daemon prince style stat ideas, if you have a suitable model then use it (priced as SC) otherwise we can use tokens to show which character they are -- 2pts for each Primarch killed (+any unit from their legion with Los gets d3 BMs)

Looking good.

Which side are you going to be on Steve, do we need another player to balance up numbers.

Are me and Ben allowed T/hawks etc or do we have to have everything on the ground.

Are we allowed a Supreme Commander each and can we have mixed forces.
