You're a bad boy Tuff. Mainly for pre-empting me asking the same thing...
Shame on you... ? ?
Primarch | Well, It will probably be outta my price range, especially as the good man is painting this one himself, so I'm outta the running already

As the constrution of this model is mostly finished Im starting to think about wat sort of colors to paint it. As this is my only WH40K Ork model Im free to choose any of the Ork tribel colors. Ive narrowed it down to three...
GOTH... coz its easy, Ive painted all my epic ork models in my own verson of the Goth colors so I know what Im doing with this color sceem.
EVIL SUNZ... I like the colors used on the FW BattleFortress and think they would work well on my BattleWagon.
BAD MOON... I like the idea of this yellow color sceem, and I think it would look cool on my model... but Ive never painted anything yellow so I realy dont know what Im doing. If anyone has good experiance with painting things yellow can they give me some helpful tips?
Also if anyone thinks a completely different color sceem to the ones Ive sudjested above would be better then let me know... Im open to any and all sudjestions.

Yellow is kind of a pain, as the paints tend to not cover very well at all. The technique I use is:
Prime white. Paint yellow (usually, I spray, because most colors work fine painted over yellow). Wash with a mix of brown ink, yellow paint and water. The yellow takes the edge off the brown, leaving nice shadows and a generally grungy, orkish look to the yellow. Paint everything else.

Yellow
Chestnut Ink wash (thinned)
Drybrush yellow

I used to just do several coats of yellow until I got the effect I wanted.
Wasteful in extreme and Jimbo's way looks better anyway...
Primarch |
Yep. Plus the other downside is the multiple coats tend to clog and the end result is a very thick coat with some detail lost. Nevertheless, that's how I usually paint white.

Has anyone ever tried using a Yellow Matt Enamel paint? ie.. base coat in white.. then a coat of yello enamel followed by a few coats of thinned down acrilic Yellow. Ive just tried this on a test peice and found the enamel paints coverage is pretty good, you just need to keep stiring it. After adding 3 thin coats of acrilic the finish is very smooth and no detail is lost.
