We have no issue with third party stuff being used. However, any miniatures which are both being sold and which infringe the IP of another company cannot be allowed. If you make stuff for yourself then this will be acceptable this year. As a rule, anything where someone has made cash of IP they dont own continues not to be allowed.
This does mean that it relies heavily on the integrity of the person submitting, as we are not able to check all miniatures in all pictures, but we do reserve the right to withdraw miniatures which break this rule, both before the submission deadline and after.
I'm still not sure I fully understand this, nor do I understand how it was enforced (or not) last year (I didn't enter, so none of this relates to me personally).
From a brief review I can see two entries last year that used minis that should be banned from the above description, one of which placed (i.e., not some small entry no one noticed …) but other people had entries turned down?
By being sold, does that mean 'currently' or 'ever'? If you made it yourself, but also in the past made money on it is that banned as well? (i assume so, and the number of people who this applies to would be small). What if you made it, sold in the past but don't any more? Does making money mean that profit was made?
Entirely reasonable to ban such minis and I recognise the reasons for doing so, but i think
the rules need to be very clear up front and enforced equally for all entries. If i'd entered and had something rejected for having forumware in it and then seen entries using nothing but forumware place I would be have been annoyed
(that said, the ones I noticed are both superb pieces, in terms of the mini and the conversions/paint work, nothing against the pieces themselves, just how they are ruled on)
edit: and after another look there are 3 that have very clear forumware use and a fourth with some small bits used in conversions.
