Nice read but epic is certainly not dead. I've posted a comment (pending moderation) mentioning Epic-UK tournaments, here, alternative suppliers and that.

Nice piece as stated well written and heart felt.

Still don't agree that EPIC40.000 was s**t though it's still my favourite game or should i say the one i had most fun with.

when I said I totally agree with the writer, I must make a correction after reading Moredakkas msg. Yes, I agree most things but not that EPIC 40.000 was s***t :)

I too remember getting SM1 at a hobby shop outside of Ft. Benning, GA, back in '90 a few month before a became a civilain ... and the excitment of looking to new releases and of course playing ... I still have almost all the original minis. And I'm currently doing a "refurbishing" project on some. Doing a little repainting and adding decals, etc ... Ah ... memories ... :wah :geek ;)

I don't think we should look too far into the negative, I didn't like E40k at the time, I regret not getting into it now I'm older and (marginally) wiser

I think the article was more focused on the importance of the game(s) and the impact they had on shaping the 40k universe as it is today

Hi!

Nice article, although I confess for me personally the "eulogy" is about 16 years too late. As far as I'm concerned epic "died" once it stopped being supported as a core game (circa 1999 when for the first time epic became "out of print"). Since then its been carried by the community of epic gamers in all their forms.

Since I being candid, I'll go one further, I'm GLAD, GW finally put it to rest. It was like a terminally ill patient you knew was going to die, but they would not pull the plug. Now GW has nothing to say what individual "epic" communities take their vision of "epic" now. I happy about that. :)

I think now other companies can pick up things and push up good unique stuff. I have not been this enthused by the plethora of choices in 6mm as I am now. It's like living another golden age, just without GW.

At least for me epic's prospects look better now than they have for over a decade, now that the only thing I disliked about epic, the company, is gone.

Every day I come here to find out what wondrous 6mm project is being floated around and the possibilities of expanding the primarchload with those possibilities. I'm very pleased with the here and now! :)
