Yup. Teleport termies. Prep with shooting the MW equipped Land Speeders drawing cross fire. Assault with Termies + the extra supporting fire from MW Land Speeders is a good way to go. Or avoid them and wreck the rest of the army. :D

I did avoid it and destroy the rest of the army. But I find it more weird than anything that in the 40K universe the elite soldiers of mankind dont have the best Titan Killer weapons. They have the best everything else, except that.

OK but you need to realise that in the 40K Universe they aren't tasked with killing Titans - that's what the Mechanicum and IG(to a lesser degree) are for. ;)

Amen. Just as the SAS aren't designed to take on armoured decisions (head on) SMs don't beat on titans (until they've decimated its support.)

What's odd is you seem to have played to your strengths and won... :D

I wish i could talk my elder opponent into sinking lots of points into a big walking white elephant ;)

totally agree, if you've not read the novel 'space marine' by ian watson, there's a bit where the imperial fists find themselves up against SIX warlord titans, they get righteously whupped until some scouts managed to commandeer an emperor titan and turn it on the warlords

I would say that most optimal builds for the core armies tend to avoid large titans and the like as they're a huge points sink, marines don't win by killing everything, they win by killing the important stuff, then nabbing objectives, which is exactly what you did

leave titan killing to the guard with their shadowswords and deathstrikes..... they have to be good at something right??

Arhhh, Ian Watson, what a loon ! Great novel - first person to put "grim-dark" words to Blanche's visions. I was totally down with the SMs stripping off their own flesh and engraving their arm bones, though eating brains to get the titan crew's memories and skills did push it a smidge too far for me. :D Never got round to reading the 2nd Harliquin novel (though i heard it wasn't as good as the first...(?))

I don't mean go toe to toe with I Titan. But they would surely have some arcane weapon that was a TK, even some hand held/shoulder launcher that the terminators have. I have def got the groove of how SM's play, but when there is nothing left to destroy but the enemy Titan I would like options.....

Wouldn't the Space Marine list become really boring to play and face if it had all weakness' covered.

Marines have no problems killing small Titans and DC 3 war engines so if there is only a large Titan left then gang up on it and use combined assaults with lots of support formations.

Or we could just add a Terminator formation with hand held Volcano Cannons and sod balance and fun for opponents.

SM are also under powered in Anti Air. The terminator squad with volcano canons, think I feel a house rule coming on :)

Why would they? even going specifically by the fluff, Space marine chapters are purposefully hampered so they HAVE to rely on the other military arms of the imperium. Being ill-equipped to deal with titans is not only fluffy but also harks back to their real world inspiration of special forces AND makes a lore of sense from a game balance point of view.

If you've got to the point where your opponent only has that single titan left alive then you've already won.
