It could probably do with different guns converted on but when I see this model it occurs to me it could be converted to a decent Reaver Titan. I has nice detail and AM inconography.

It will cost twelve trillion dollars. Think how much monetary inflation there'll be by the year 30,000.

Real answer, not sure, it's not out for a while. I would guess maybe around 30-40GBP? It would be a nice, still available possibility but I never said it would be a cheap option.

That looked suspiciously like a Warjack (Privateer Press) at first and second and third and fourth glance.

I googled a Warjack and there is some resemblance.

The new Castallax is based on the ancient Castellan robot model from Rogue Trader though and draws some of that from there:

But in defense of my statement, Warjacks looked suspiciously like old Imperial Robots.

Ah, well. It's all good I guess :)

What's the story behind robots? I thought anything completely robotic was banned since pre-Imperial days.

You can't bother GW to keep things consistent nor remember how things were. They have brand new 12 and 13 year olds with their parent's credit cards to cater too.

I understand why but it's really like rubbing salt in a wound every time I see them lifting yet another unit from Epic for use in Barbie Scale 40000

It's not taking an epic unit to 40k - there were 40k scale robot models in the Rogue Trader days.

Robots aren't banned in the Imperium as such, it's artificial intelligence that's banned, as in the distant past during the height of humanity's technological prowess the AIs rebelled and terrible wars raged across the galaxy, nearly wiping humanity out. To copy and paste the opening paragraph from the Iron Men entry on the 40k wiki:
Quote:
In the cryptic account of the history of Mankind given by Cripias, one of the Keepers of the Library Sanctus of Terra, the Iron Men or Men of Iron were legendary, artificially intelligent humanoid machines created by humans during the Dark Age of Technology. Until shortly before the Age of Strife, the Men of Iron were loyal only to Mankind, and served as humanity's army in the period when much of human space was united by a federation-type government that existed before the Imperium of Man. The Men of Iron were developed after the similar artificially intelligent constructs remembered only as the Men of Stone, but before the "modern" conception of robots in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Eventually, the Men of Iron turned on their human masters, believing themselves superior to the humans who relied on the Men of Iron to do virtually everything for them. In the end, the Men of Iron were destroyed by humanity in a terrible war that extinguished countless lives and destroyed the ancient galaxy's economic and political unity. The people of that time swore to never again create advanced artificial intelligences, a prohibition which has survived unto the present, far darker age.

The new AM robots from FW are dumb machines, following basic programming and need to be led and guided in battle by a robot controller Tech Adept, a 'Magus Dominus', as below:

Ah, thanks! That clears it up. I knew about the Men of Iron story, and I guess I assumed that these robots were equally intelligent.

True but they largely disappeared from regular RT 40k in short order and IIRC were one of the victims in 2nd edition being cut (might have been 3rd, I am getting old after all). People probably were not too happy about the pseudo-workflow used to represent their programming (I personally thought that was brilliant). Epic was where they realllly seemed to shine. That graphic also was in the old epic background booklet also ;) But I totally get your point (that Rogue Trader was the shizzle, right :D )
