I have seen them and they look fine, some of the guys on here have actually played on them to. They are made of a hard board type material so aren't that flimsy. You just lay them out, so there is nothing holding them together when you play.
The designs on them are what a company called Games and Gears are going to be turning into actual plastic battle boards as part of a kickstarter (the boards are similar to the GW Realms of Battle boards and supposedly the right size to be fully compatible).
