My only experience with round bases is with the DRM bases, which I think are 27mm. They're pretty clunky in play, I wouldn't mind something smaller. Of course, you still need room for minis on the bases, I think most 20mm round bases I see use 3 figures?

25mm is fine and IMO ideal but please could they be precisely 1.5mm high? I use different shapes and sizes but like my bases to match and if they were taller or shorter I wouldn't use them.

GWs strip bases are 2mm high, though.

Measuring an OOP Epic base they look to be more in the region of 1.75mm (I don't have a very precise tape measure to hand but it definitely appears smaller than 2mm and bigger than 1.5mm).

1.5mm is the height of Warmaster bases and those nice laser cut ply bases that are perfect for vehicle bases. I've settled on 1.5mm for all my bases, so that would be what I'd be after. I wouldn't be overly bothered if something else were settled on instead, I don't mind getting more models instead of bases and then using ply bases with them.

Square or strip? I've made strips, they're definitely 2mm. I do think the squares are a bit thinner. The standard individual figure base is 1/4" diam. By 1mm thick.

i recon the strip bases are 2mm tall.

However, measured optically against a ruller the curve on them makes them look a bit thinner (i.e. 1.75–1.8mm-ish). But, if you take two bits of 1mm styrene sheet (known thickness, easy to verify optically as hard edges) and stack them on top of each other next to a strip base, and then put something dead level over the top, they are the same height.

I've gone for 2mm. Thinner is a bit harder to reliably cast.

Liking the alien slaves. Is there any chance of a smaller pack though? £5 (plus Postage) for 40 slaves? My wife is watching the budget very closely at the moment as we have a new baby on the way! As I should be too... :tut

Also is there any way to combine the pledges/perks to cut down on postage costs? Every little helps, particularly if pledging on multiple small perks like vehicle add ons (I like the look of the aircraft, and can't wait for a bigger picture)

Edit: Oh, and add another vote for Design #3 of the Alien Vehicle design. Excellent!

Hey Chivs,

We've hit the maximum number of visible Perks (12) at the moment - we won't be able to add any more without removing some of the current ones from the public view. If someone takes one of the 0-1 Perks I'll be able to take it away from public view and replace it with a new one.

On postage for multiple Perks - yes I'm sure we can arrange that. Email me with the specific combination you want and I'll let you know how much extra to contribute. We can do the same thing to work out "custom" Perks for you to give a smaller (or larger, theoretically speaking) Slaves Perk too, if you want.

I'm guessing slaves come in packs of 80 because that matches the number of bases on the base sprue (if that gets funded)?

Gorgeous minis, them slaves. Too far away from being useful to me, even though i find myself unconsciously trying to invent some use for them just because they are great! I'll have to wait for another perk before I release more funds...

Maybe you could drop the "name the XXX" perks. Who cares spending 60 pounds to be able to choose the name of unit/faction ?

There's been a bit of interest in those actually.

I could move those from being a Perk to an "arrange via email" special purchase thing, mind you.

I'd like to unlock another few metal Perks before we get to the "split the bases off the sprue" target.

How about these three?

It'd push back the "split" target from £3500 to £4000, but on the other hand I'd hope that these new models would generate pre-orders in excess of that and would help us reach the "split" target sooner than would otherwise have happened... a few hands in the air one way or the other will help me decide when/if to put them on sale.
