I'm curious about the Slann army list - (no, I'm not complaining that the Necrons are included in it ;))

What kind of fan base is there for this army list? Is there much interest at all? Or could there be, if there was a model range to support it?

What kind of playtesting was the list subjected to - how many people were involved? Is there a forum post that logs progress and changes as it was tested and developed?

I ask because I may be interested in developing a miniature line for this army, but would like to gauge the possible fan base first - and make sure that it's backed up by a sound, and well tested list that could attract players who may not have considered them before due to the lack of a dedicated line of figs...

The Problem is, there is very little info or art around to tell anyone how the slann are "supposed" to be like; I know that some of them look like the dark realms Kraytonians, but besides that, I have no idea. All your work has been great, and so I'm happy to see it expand, but because I dont really know what to expect, besides, of course, reptilains high tech folks.

Which is exactly why I find the prospect so appealing. A flushed out army with rules, yet completely open to interpretation artistically :)

You take frogs and reptiles, Antlantis, Mayans, Aztecs, and Dogu and throw them into a blender and see what shakes out :) Given that the race is incredibly advanced, and highly evolved psychically, you can really go nuts with some creative, original design...

Hmmm...Well, I for one would love to see such a thing; obviously Alien forces are sadly lacking in 6mm.

Space Frogs would be awesome in my opinion!

I've been messing around in the old sketch book, trying to come up with something interesting. When I was a kid, I ran across a picture of a "Dogu" figurine, and it really stuck with me for some reason. I took the look of the Dogu, added other cultural influences, and took into account the hunched, frog-like profile of the Slann, and referenced the unique hit location chart of the Slann's titans to come up with the following sketch:

Image

I wanted to create something that looked like it could have been laying dormant in some lost jungle for millenia before being activated for war. I'd like to get across the idea of stone coverings over ancient mechanics, and a hint of magic. If I could pull it off, I'd like to somehow make the limbs look as if they aren't connected directly to the torso, and are "hovering" on their own...

Anyways, what do you guys think of this stylistic direction?

I'd be up for dogu styled space frogs.

A thought on the floating limbs; perhaps you could have them connected by metal vines or electrical arcs, which could then be bent to shape as needed?

Legion 4 - what an odd coincidence!

The concept pic is what I'd imagine small mechs and battlesuits would look like. The larger titans would be covered with detail work, and look like mobile monuments...
