I pre-ordered the heresy novel Angel Exterminatus on Amazon ages ago. Yesterday i received a email informing me that they cannot source this book for me and that the order has been cancelled. I can't find the book on the Black Library site either, except for an enlarged collectors version. :(

Question, can anyone tell me what is happening with the heresy novels, are they still going to release softback versions at a later date?

I look forward to getting these and now it seems somebody is messing around with this series, probably to make more money out of it. I want my heresy fix man, any info appreciated.

They've changed direction recently, new HH novels will first come out in hardback then trade paperback(think space marine battles books for size) and finally in mass market paperback with a few months between each release. It's all about money unfortunately but you shouldn't really notice a release-time difference once we've gotten past these initial few launch books.

Any idea if the mass market paperbacks will still do the gold/silver/bronze print thing?

I don't see why not, though I don't know for certain. I guess we'll see whenever AE reaches paperback which should be March-April I think. I imagined they'd not want to snub their readerbase any more than they have to with these new formats.

UIpdate - Angel Exterminatus mass market paperback version shown on Amazon as due for release on the 30th of july.

This then i take it is the same size book as those i have already been collecting?
